JUSTICE LEAGUE ANIMATION UPDATE

Rich Fogel confirmed for The Continuum that he is one of the writers on the Justice League animated series being produced at Warner Bros. Animation for Cartoon Network.

"I just finished writing the pilot, and we think this is going to be an amazing, eye-popping show, filled with big action, epic adventure and gripping suspense," Fogel told The Continuum. "In developing the pilot, I've worked closely with Bruce Timm, Glen Murakami and James Tucker, who have developed a slick new look for the Justice League."

Stan Berkowitz, another Warner Bros. Animation veteran, joins Fogel as a writer on the show, which has a 26-episode order.

"This isn't Super Friends," Fogel said. "Nothing quite like it has ever been attempted, and I don't think the fans will be disappointed."

Bret Blevins, a Superman comics artist in the 1990s, will also be working on the show as an artist. Blevins recently worked on Batman Beyond.

Representatives of Warner Bros. Animation could not comment if the show would be set in the continuity of the Batman and Superman series. It also appears that the Green Lantern in the series will be the John Stewart version of the character, although that has not been confirmed.

Regular members of the team will include Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash, Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl.

"For a long time before and after my start in the industry, I have wanted to work at Top Cow," Zanier said. "When I was first approached by Top Cow, I was very excited and full of energy. Certain circumstances and situations between Top Cow and myself, as well as my studio mates, has burned out that energy."

  • AiT/Planet Lar publisher Larry Young and Cool Beans Productions Creative Director Nick Percival announced Wednesday that Cool Beans has acquired the online reprint rights for Astronauts in Trouble: Live From The Moon and its follow-up, Astronauts In Trouble: Space 1959.

"Nick Percival contacted Charlie Adlard and me about reprinting the AiT books online," Young said. "I was familiar with Cool Beans because of their sponsorship of parts of SFX magazine, a favorite of mine. When Nick offered to acquire the rights to the first two books, and with the added bonus of his crack team of artists to color the pages -- honestly my first thought was, 'Pull the other one.' Having the astronauts in with new Marhal Law, online Nobody, and that funky Judge Dredd animation seemed like a no-brainer. Happy to be associated with them," Young said.

"Top name comic-book creators are working with Cool Beans' cutting edge technology to create a new, exciting evolution in graphic storytelling, and we look forward to offering Astronauts in Trouble when www.coolbeansworld.com officially launches later this year," Percival said.
