ONI PRESS' BLUE MONDAY: LOVECATS

Oni Press is publishing a new one-shot from Chynna Clugston-Major, Blue Monday: Lovecats, in February.

The one-shot starring the teenage roustabouts of Fresburger, Calif. The new story takes a closer look at the relationships of the gang, focusing specifically on the burgeoning feelings between Clover and Victor.

"In the main Blue Monday comics, we sometimes get caught up in the wacky hijinx and don't get to pause as much as we'd like to see the emotional lives of our characters," said Oni editor-in-chief Jamie S Rich. "Since this is a book about teenagers, hormones are running at illegal speeds, and it's natural that the kids are going to get all dippy for one another. While Absolute Beginniers was more about feelings that weren't there, Lovecats is about feelings that are."

"There is a lot that I have yet to reveal about Bleu and her friends," Clugston-Major said. "I have their lives mapped out for many years to come, and the path is going to involve a lot of ups and downs, successes and failures. Some friendships will become stronger, while others will be exposed as rotten. Bleu has been getting most of the spotlight so far. Now it's Clover's turn."

Lovecats is the first of three specials for 2002 and 2003, all revolving around a special time of year. Part two is scheduled for October, and will look at how the gang celebrates Halloween. Nocturnals creator Dan Brereton has agreed to paint the cover.

"The plan was to keep Blue Monday going even while Chynna worked on her new series, Scooter Girl," Rich said. "We didn't want to go a year without new material, but we couldn't really schedule a new series while Chynna had six other comics to create. But don't worry. Scooter Girl is a one-off project, while Blue Monday is Chynna's life's work. Oni and Chynna are committed to Blue Monday for the duration."

These are the secrets exposed in the "Extinction Dossier" - the final research of Moira MacTaggert. Now, mutant militancy explodes as the human/mutant dynamic is seemingly turned on its ear. What - if anything - can the X-Men do to control this situation? Plus: introducing the all-new Angel."
