Monday, January 21, 2002STATIC SHOCK UPDATE "Static Shaq," an episode of Static Shock guest-starring the Los Angeles Lakers' Shaquille O'Neal, will air on Saturday, Feb. 16 on Kids' WB!.
The episode, written by Chris Simmons and directed by Denys Cowan, involves O'Neal coming to Dakota and visiting Virgil's father. He and Virgil get trapped in the RuffPack - Hyde, Kangorr and Ferret - trying to capture Static. O'Neal is a big comics and Superman fan, wearing a Man of Steel tattoo on his arm. He starred in the 1997 film Steel, based on the DC character. O'Neal, who is also a rapper, told The Continuum he hopes to continue to grow as an actor. "I think I'm OK," he said. "I'm not like Wesley Snipes or Bruce Willis yet, but anything is possible. Acting is very different (than basketball). They're not even close. Acting is very much facial expressions and delivery." Static Shock's second season begins on Saturday with "The Big Leagues," an episode featuring Batman and Robin. The Continuum caught up with David Chlystek, director of "The Big Leagues," to discuss the episode. For the story,CLICK HERE. Click on the thumbnails below for larger images from "Static Shaq."

10TH MUSE/DEMONSLAYER CROSSOVER![]() 10th Muse / Demonslayer, the first crossover involving Avatar Press and Image, will be published in April. The face off between 10th Muse, the TidalWave Studios, Rena Mero-inspired character, and Mychaels' Demonslayer will be released as a full color one-shot, with issue 1/2 prelude written by Robert Lugibihl, drawn by Mychaels, and featuring Robert Jones inks and Nimbus colors. "I love Marat's artwork," Mero said. "He did a great job with my character the Muse. I can't wait to see more." "Getting involved in a project with the lovely Ms Mero would have been the only reason I needed to green-light this crossover," joked Avatar Press editor-in-chief William Christensen. "But there are a number of other elements that are going to make this a great book for fans of both 10th Muse and Demonslayer. Marat Mychaels, Robert Jones, and Nimbus Studios have been working together for several months on Alan Moore's Glory and everybody on that team is hitting on all cylinders creatively, as Glory readers know. "It's also cool to be doing a crossover with an Image book after all this time. Although Avatar has published a number of titles that Image has also published, this is the first actual Image/Avatar crossover. Working with Darren Davis and TidalWave has resulted in a project that's going to please comic fans as well as Rena's legion of fans outside of comics." "This is the first crossover we have done with another company," said Davis, TidalWave Studios editor-in-chief. "I am looking forward to sharing the Muse with another fanbase at Avatar. I think Demonslayer is a cool concept and cant wait to see her interact with the Muse. From what I have seen so far, the production value on these books are top notch." "I've been a big fan of Rena Mero, so naturally working on a Demonslayer crossover with 10th Muse is something I jumped at the chance to do," Mychaels said. "I'm putting the same sort of love into the pages as I did on Alan Moore's Glory and I am very proud with how this book is turning out."
