SPIDER-MAN MOVIE PROPS

Rick Cigel, president of Unobtainium Ltd., told The Continuum to expect the company's Spider-Man movie props in stores by mid-March.

According to Cigel, the first day Unobtainium can sell Spider-Man products is March 15.

"We expected to be finished by March 15 and will have a release somewhere in mid-March," Cigel said.

Unobtainium props will include exact replicas of Green Goblin's pumpkin bomb, trident and glider, and three different editions of the Daily Bugle used in the film.

Cigel said the decision to do props based on Spider-Man was easy.

"We wanted to licensed props on the movies that were the most exciting and Spider-Man is a natural for 2002," Cigel said. "We met with the studio and made a proposal about the kind of replicas we wanted to do. We were excited about the content for the movie.

"They showed us the script and they talked about what would be in the film and they showed us some still photographs from the movie and we determined where the props would come from."

Cigel has more knowledge than most of the film, having read the script and seen footage.

"It's a very good movie," he said. "It's very well done."

NEW JUSTICE LEAGUE EPISODE

Part one of "War World," a new episode of Cartoon Network's Justice League, is scheduled to premiere on Sunday at 7 p.m. (ET).

"'War World' is a great, action-packed episode," Justice League producer Rich Fogel told The Continuum. "I thought it would be fun to throw Superman into the gladiator's ring on an alien world. I also wanted to do it because I thought Draaga could be an interesting character to explore with his warrior's sense of honor."

Justice League voice director Andrea Romano cast veteran character actor William Smith to play Draaga.

"Smith played in many B biker films, but is probably best known for his brawl with Clint Eastwood in Any Which Way You Can," Fogel said. "His voice was so wonderfully tough and grizzled, we actually altered the model and made Draaga older. Now Draaga looks like he's survived years of battle in the arena. He's a complex and compelling character."

Fogel said the creators wanted to make the episode "over the top, just like WWF wrestling."

"Luckily, writer Stan Berkowitz is a WWF fan, and he captured the tone perfectly," Fogel said. "Eric Roberts powerfully plays War World's heartless dictator Mongol. And director Butch Lukic did a stellar job staging the brutal fights in the arena.

"But the most important reason for doing this episode was to highlight Superman. By putting him through this ordeal, we really get to see his deep commitment to his ideals. George Newbern perfectly conveys Superman's steely determination and his strength of character."

The episode will be rebroadcast on Saturday, March 2 at 12:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

CHAOS! COMICS' CHASTITY RE-IMAGINED

Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray will be writing Chastity: Re-Imagined, part of the summer event from Chaos! Comics.

"It's a one shot, but we pack it full of high-octane action, horror, and, of course, hot chicks with a thirst for blood," Palmiotti said. "Amanda (Conner) is doing character designs and a cover for the book that is absolutely gorgeous.

"It's a period piece set in the 1800's, but there's a hell of a lot going on, including the twisted origin's of Vlad the Impaler. I don't want to give away the story, but we cover 400 years of Vampire lore with the original madman who inspired Bram Stoker's Dracula."

Palmiotti said the Re-Imagined books was something he wouldn't normally get the chance to work on.

"Brian (Pulido, Chaos! publisher) gave us some guidelines to make sure we stayed true to the core of the character, but allowed us the freedom to impart our own particular madness," Palmiotti sais. "Oh, yeah, and somewhere in there is a love story gone wrong…terribly wrong."
