SPIDER-MAN MOVIE UPDATE

Dr Pepper is having a promotion with Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment for the release of the Spider-Man DVD release on Nov. 1.

Beginning in November, Dr Pepper purchasers will have the chance to instantly win prizes such as Sony Dream Systems, Spider-Man DVDs and Dr Pepper products by looking behind the label of specially marked packages of Dr Pepper.

The promotion will be in stores through December and will build on Dr Pepper and Sony Pictures Entertainment's Spider-Man movie release promotion earlier this year.

"The success of our summer movie release promotion exceeded our expectations in terms of both consumer and retailer excitement," said Cindi Clark, Dr Pepper's senior vice president - marketing. "The upcoming Spider- Man DVD release will be a big attention-grabber for Dr Pepper's 12- to 34- year-old target audience, especially during the key holiday shopping period of November and December."

Dr Pepper will incorporate promotion details into a multi-million dollar television campaign, develop a special Web site located within www.drpepper.com , and provide in-store display merchandising and point-of- sale materials featuring Spider-Man DVD packaging.

The on-pack promotion will be featured on 20-ounce and 2-liter bottles, and inside specially marked 12-packs of cans.

In other Spider-Man movie news, the film is being packaged with Men in Black II in theaters starting Friday in a special two-movies-for-one-ticket promotion.

ONI PATCHES IN DECEMBER

Oni Press in December will be giving a wide release to its assortment of four patches, previously only available this past August at Comic-Con International.

The stitched badges feature the logos for Pounded, Queen & Country, the Oni demon head, and a specially designed Blue Monday patch based on the Royal Air Force target.

The patches can either be ironed on or sewn. Each patch is sold separately and retails for $7.95.

The dimensions for the designs are as follows: Blue Monday - 4" circle; Oni Head - 3" circle; Pounded - 4"x1"; Queen & Country - 4"x2".

"Following the success of our Blue Monday buttons, we thought we would expand our little fashion accessory empire," said Oni Press editor James Lucas Jones. "Our thinking so far has been to go with stuff that can work as decoration, and with some of our more hardcore series. I'd like nothing more than to be going down the street and see some cool high school kids sporting an Oni patch on their backpack!"
