BATMAN #608 TOPS SALE CHARTS

Batman #608, the debut issue of "Hush" by Jeph Loeb, Jim Lee and Scott Williams, is the number one issue in copies for October in-store books as announced by Diamond Comic Distributors.

This ranking is based on initial orders only.

"We're excited by the response," said Bob Wayne, DC's Vice President - Sales & Marketing. "Between the high quality of the work Jeph, Jim and Scott are turning in and our team's ability to get the word out, this run on Batman is among the most highly anticipated projects of the year. As soon as fans see the entire issue, they'll realize it's so good that word-of-mouth will push demand even higher. I suggest retailers check their orders on subsequent issues and increase them as soon as possible."

Lee, also Editorial Director of WildStorm Productions, said, "Jeph, Scott and I thank retailers for their overwhelming support for Batman. We're all having a blast with it and I hope it shows in the finished work."

Loeb said, "This SO rocks. I'm incredibly proud to be associated with this amazing team of Scott, Alex Sinclair, Richard Starkings, Morgan Dontanville, Mark Chiarello, Bob Schreck and, oh yeah, Jim what's his name. Thanks go out to everyone at DC, all the retailers and especially the readers and fans who have made this dream come true and returned Batman to its rightful place!"

DC also announced that beginning with this issue, the paper stock for Batman will be upgraded.

"We considered a paper upgrade from the very start and went back-and-forth on it," editor Bob Schreck said. "Once the work started to roll in and we saw just how amazing the whole package looked, it was an easy choice."

NEW X-MEN: EVOLUTION EPISODE

"Mainstream," Saturday's new episode X-Men: Evolution on Kids' WB!, brings the show back to Bayville High.

"'Day of Recovery' and 'Stuff of Heroes' were larger than life episodes, which were necessary in order to wrap up the main story threads from Day of Reckoning," story editor Greg Johnson told The Continuum. "So now it's time to scale things back a bit with 'Mainstream,' where we get a chance to explore the smaller, more personal orbits of our characters.

"Our goal is to restore some kind of routine to the show, since we've thrown our cast of characters into such overwhelming turmoil. I was particularly eager to get our kids back into school, and see them faced with a new level of challenges. We'll also get a clearer idea of the kind of man Principal Kelly is, and what he's capable of, now that he's faced with the prospect of mainstreaming mutants into his school."

* Never-before-seen clips of X-Men: Evolution will be presented by creators of the show at the Los Angeles Comic Convention on Sunday. Click on the image for more details of the event.

ANDREW LIS TALKS X-TREME X-MEN: X-POSE

GIVE'EM A CLICK

Marvel Comics on Thursday released the cover and three pages from X-Treme: X-Pose #1.

The two-issue mini-series is written by Chris Claremont, with art by Arthur Ransom and covers by Rodolfo Migliari. It involves two TV reporters investigating the X-Treme X-Men team.

"No one is more aware than Chris Claremont of the changing status quo of the X-Men as they move from outlaws to a global entity with a prominent media profile," said editor Andrew Lis. "Couple that with Arthur Ranson's uniquely realistic artwork and this look at how the X-Men interact with the real world becomes all the more creepy"

"X-Treme X-Men: X-Pose asks what you would think of mutants if it were your job to deal with a minority on the verge of rising up and outnumbering you. If you were in the news media, how would you report this? Maybe you wouldn't know what to think. Maybe you'd find out. Or maybe you'd just hate them like poison."

X-Treme X-Men: X-Pose #1 goes on sale Nov. 13.
