NEW LINE OPTIONS SHAZAM!

New Line Cinema is in final negotiations with DC Comics for a feature film based on SHAZAM!.

Michael Uslan, an executive producer on the Batman franchise who has been working with CrossGen Comics, will serve as executive producer on the project.

"We're pleased to be developing one of the gems of our library with one of our sister companies," DC publisher Paul Levitz told Variety.

DC and New Line are both owned by AOL Time Warner.

New Line vice-presidents Christopher Godsick and Mark Kaufman are leading the development of SHAZAM!.

DC recently announced a mini-series featuring Captain Marvel by Bone creator Jeff Smith.

SPIDER-MAN MOVIE UP FOR AWARD

The Spider-Man movie was among the top three vote-getters for the 29th Annual People's Choice Awards, CBS announced on Wednesday.

Spider-Man was joined in the Favorite Motion Picture category with Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Halle Berry, who is returning as Storm in the X-Men sequel, is a finalist in the Favorite Motion Picture Actress category. Other finalists are Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock.

The awards will be broadcast live on CBS from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Sunday, Jan. 12 at 9 p.m. Tony Danza is the host, and presenters will be announced shortly.

In other Spider-Man movie news, the film will be featured on Thursday in the syndicated television series Extra's "Best of Show Biz 2002" episode.
