Monday, December 9, 2002STATIC SHOCK UPDATEMichael Jai White, who starred in the Spawn movie, will be providing a guest voice in the third season of Kids' WB!'s Static Shock animated series. In what will likely be the second episode of the season, following the premiere that will feature Batman, White will provide the voice of Osebo, the nemesis of Anansi, an Africa super hero that Static will meet. Anasi's voice is done by Carl Lumbly, who also does the voice of Martian Manhunter in Justice League. Static Shock's third season will begin next month, and a premiere date is expected to be announce this week. Look for more Static Shock news soon here in The Continuum.
HULK MOVIE UPDATEThe first toys from the upcoming movie The Hulk began to appear in stores and on online auctions over the weekend. The initial figures include Punching Hulk, Smash & Crush Hulk and Super Posable Leaping Hulk as well as The Hulk Electronic Rage Cage. The second series of action figures includes Bruce Banner, Screaming Hulk and Incredible Hulk. For a previous report on The Hulk, CLICK HERE. BUFFY STANDALONE ISSUEBuffy the Vampire Slayer #55 will be a special one-issue story totally created by Paul Lee. The story is called "Dawn and Hoopy the Bear." Here's how Dark Horse describes the issue: "Continuing the look into Buffy's life before Sunnydale, we take a detour with Dawn -- a mysterious package is accidently delivered to the younger Summers sister, and the enchanted teddy bear Hoopy wreaks havoc upon the life of the little ten year old. Intended to destroy the Slayer, the gift leads Dawn unwittingly into her first adventure, years before she'd ever be accepted into the Scooby Gang." Lee, longtime cover artist on the Buffy series, writes, draws, colors, letters, and provides both photo and art covers for the issue. Buffy the Vampire Slayer #55 will arrive in stores on March 26.
FIRST LOOK: 3 LITTLE KITTENS: PURRR-FECT WEAPONS #33 Little Kittens: Purrr-fect Weapons #3 will arrive in stores on Dec. 26 from Broadsword Comics. The issue is written by Jim Balent, with art by Balent. Here's how Broadsword describes the issue: "New York City and the nation hang in the balance in this final issue of the 3 Little Kitten's mini-series. Latex Red challenges the Catress to a high heeled death match, while the rest of the kittens fight for their lives against the Satanic Cheerleaders of Doom." 3 Little Kittens: Purrr-fect Weapons #3 will be 32 pages and will cost $2.95. The issue is available with two different covers as well as in a Deluxe Edition.
FIRST LOOK: JACK STAFF #1Jack Staff #1 will arrive in stores on Feb. 5 from Image Comics. The issue is written by Paul Grist, with art and cover by Grist. Here's how Image describes the issue: "Twenty years ago the British army developed Rage. 240 pounds of pure destructive force. Then they set it loose on the streets of Castletown. The only person stood between Castletown and total destruction was Jack Staff, Britain's Greatest Hero. Now, twenty years later the inhabitants of Castletown are suffering violent 'Rage Attacks' - and Jack Staff has to deal with the fallout as the military try to reclaim their ultimate weapon." Jack Staff #1 will be 32 pages and will cost $2.95.
FIRST LOOK: KARZA #1Karza #1 will arrive in stores on Feb. 5 from Image Comics. The issue is written by Jim Krueger, penciled by Steve Kurth and inked by Ray Snyder. Here's how Image describes the issue: "When Ryan Archer was abducted and transported to the world of the Micronauts, he witnessed Baron Karza's tyranny first hand. Now, with the help of the enigmatic Time Traveller, he will go on a journey through time and space, and learn how the megalomaniac became the monster he is today." Karza #1 will be 32 pages and will cost $2.95.
