SPIDER-MAN ANIMATED UPDATE

Electro will be the first villain featured in MTV's Spider-Man animated series.

An Electro episode is the first episode being produced and will be the first to air, probably sometime in the first quarter of 2003. In the show, Electro - voiced by Ethan Embry - will be Max Dillon.

Producer Audu Paden told The Continuum that Electro's powers are ideal for the CG environment created for Spider-Man and will produce visually exciting fight scenes. And while the show will be more adult than previous animated versions of Spider-Man, Paden said it won't be more extreme than a PG-13 movie.

"Violence is an interesting problem, especially in this medium," Paden said. "I think directorially it's actually often better to not feature things, but to imply them. It's more horrific and those are the sorts of choices where the violence may be in the writing and we'll be just as horrible about it, but we don't need to be gross about it."

MIKE MCKONE EXCLUSIVE WITH DC COMICS

Artist Mike McKone, best known for his work on Superman and Exiles, has signed a one-year exclusive agreement with DC Comics.

"As always, Mike is producing some of the most dynamic comics around, and we're thrilled to have him back at DC where he belongs, " said Mike Carlin, VP - Executive Editor, DC Universe. "We're all looking forward to seeing where he and Geoff Johns take Teen Titans."

"DC has been very generous to me over the years, and I couldn't be happier to be back," McKone said. "By the greatest of good fortune I'm getting to draw Teen Titans. I'm very much looking forward to working with - or should that be riding the coattails of? - the great Geoff Johns, and of course my own personal Jedi Master, Eddie Berganza. "

McKone is the penciler of the 48-page one-shot Superman vs. Darkseid: Apokolips Now, scheduled to be in stores on Jan. 29.

DAREDEVIL MOVIE UPDATE

Ben Affleck's upcoming marriage to Jennifer Lopez won't affect his promotion for the Daredevil movie.

It had been widely rumored that the Affleck-Lopez marriage was going to be on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14 - the same day Daredevil is scheduled to open in theaters.

But during Lopez's appearance on NBC's The Today Show last week, Affleck put those rumors to rest.

"Not Valentine's Day, that's not true," he said. "I have a movie opening Valentine's Day, actually, so I'll be working."

In other Daredevil news:

* The film's latest trailer will be part of the new Like Mike DVD.

* Jennifer Garner, who plays Elektra, will be a guest on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Friday.

* Encore's Daredevil game for the Game Boy Advance has gone gold.
