ARCHIE COMICS FOR APRIL

Following are Archie Comics' solicitations for April, with information coming from the company.

ARCHIE #535

Written by Angelo DeCesare, Craig Boldman and Greg Crosby, art by Stan Goldberg.

"Good Deed, Bad Idea." Archie offers his services as "do-gooder" absolutely free - but by the time he's done "helping," people will pay him to stay away. "A Non-Starter." It's a case of engine envy when Archie's car responds to Jughead TLC more than it does to Archie. "Doin' Homework." Archie tries to "make the grade" by having Betty and Veronica tutor him on alternate weeknights - maybe on the weekend he'll actually get some studying in. "The Stilt-Man Cometh." Archie is determined to become a stilt expert before the fad makes a comeback - if Reggie doesn't "stick" it to him first.

32 pages, $2.19, in stores on April 9.

ARCHIE & FRIENDS #70

Written by George Gladir, art by Rex Lindsey.

"Where There's a Will … there's $$$." Riverdale High's baseball team finds themselves batting for big bucks when a wealthy graduate's will grants them five million dollars - if they can defeate their arch-rival, that is. It looks like "game over" when the boys lose - until Betty goes over the fine print and realizes the next day's girls softball games counts, too. Will the girls step up to the plate and show the boys how it's done or will they strike out, too?

"Rat Control." Betty is on a mission to take care of all the "random annoying things" in her life. When Veronica decides to do the same, Reggie and Jughead top her list. "The Troubles She's Seen." Trouble is where you find it - and for Veronica that means agonizing over what to wear, fending off boys and having other girls be jealous of her. This troubles Betty, whose own problems are much glamorous. "Well Coordinated." Veronica calls the shots by calling Betty repeatedly and advising her what to wear. Will Betty be a fashion follower or develop a fashion sense of her own? "Birds of a Feather." Veronica thinks Betty's new hobby is for the birds - and it is, when Betty joins a bird-watching club.
