ALFRED GOUGH TALKS SMALLVILLE, IRON MAN

With Smallville wrapping production on its second season, executive producer Alfred Gough told The Continuum he and partner Miles Millar are working on the script for the Iron Man movie.

"Iron Man's coming along well. We're sort of knee deep in that," Gough said. "Now that we have the hiatus, Miles and I pushing forward on that. New Line is excited and Marvel is excited.

"And we're very excited to be writing that. Tony Stark is a great character and, certainly given the world events as they are, Iron Man is also a very relevant character as well."

In the interview with The Continuum, Gough talked about the second-season finales of Smallville and a mystery voice being used for Jor-El. For the complete interview, CLICK HERE.

X2 UPDATE

X2 officially brought in $85,558,731 in its opening weekend, according to numbers released on Monday.

"The fans came our in force. Thanks to them," said Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine, during an appearance on Good Day Live. "We were in Japan for the opening and they're mad about the film down there. And then I got back to a message from Tom Rothman, the head of Fox, saying 'biggest worldwide.'"

Jackman said X2 performed better than he expected.

"I don't think we thought it would be this successful," Jackman said. "It's only almost twice as successful as the first one."

Jackman made the entertainment show rounds on Monday, also joining X2 castmates James Marsden, Alan Cumming, Anna Paquin, Famke Janssen, Shawn Ashmore and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos on an X2 special on MTV's Total Request Live. He said he would "bet the house" that there will be a third X-Men movie.

"I don't see any reason why the third one can't be any better than the second," he said.
