SMALLVILLE DVD UPDATE
Warner Home Video has released additional details about Smallville: The Complete First Season, a six-disc DVD set that arrives in stores on Sept. 23.
Here's a description:
"The deluxe DVD collection of Smallville: The Complete First Season contains super special features including audio commentaries on the pilot by executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, as well as pilot director David Nutter. Another commentary with Gough and Millar appears on the show's second episode entitled Metamorphosis. Additional special features include deleted scenes from two episodes, a storyboard to screen featurette and an interactive tour of Smallville. A DVD-ROM link to smallville.net website also provides access to additional bonus content."
The DVD collects all 21 episodes from the first season and is priced at $64.92.
CROSSGEN ROUNDUP
CrossGen Entertainment has announced that International Outfitters Direct will be creating all CrossGen apparel.
"International Outfitters have taken our previously existing catalog of apparel, resourced every item - right down to the colors and sizes we previously offered - and will even be adding new and updated items to the mix," said CrossGen senior VP of business development Tony Panaccio. "International Outfitters offers name-brand clothing that can be matched with their new 'Laser Embroidery' decoration process, which makes it easy to match the items of your choice with your favorite CrossGen logos.
"International Outfitters is working with us daily to update and upgrade everything we offer on the site, and they are working to lower prices, as well. Customer satisfaction is their first task, and they have really stepped up to the plate to ensure that they represent CrossGen well. In addition, they are also building more roads between CrossGen and mainstream retail customers with a variety of new products we hope to unveil over the coming year."

DEVIL'S DUE COVERS
Devil's Due Studio on Tuesday provided The Continuum with an updated look at 18 of its upcoming covers.
Among the covers are G.I. Joe Frontline #11-14, a weekly run in August; G.I. Joe Frontline #15, a Stalker one-shot; G.I. Joe #21, a J. Scott Campbell variant; G.I. Joe #20 and 21 by Mike Zeck that go together; G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #3 by Mike Miller G.I. HOPELESS SAVAGES, SIDEKICKS COLLECTIONS
Oni Press has announced new collected editions for Hopeless Savages and Sidekicks.
"We're really trying to get in touch with both the comics audience and the Manga audience," said Oni Press publisher Joe Nozemack "And we think that Sidekicks and Hopeless Savages are two of the perfect books for both."
Hopeless Savages Volume 1 New Edition is a 136 page black-and-white trade paperback arriving in stores on Sept. 18. It features a new cover illustrated by Christine Norrie and colored by Guy Major and will retail for $11.95.
Sidekicks Volume 1: The Transfer Student New Edition is a 144 page black-and-white trade paperback arriving in stores on Oct.8. It features a brand new color cover by Takeshi Miyazawa and will retail for $11.95.
The new Oni graphic novel-sized edition of the first Hopeless Savages trade paperback is written by Jen Van Meter, with art by Christine Norrie, Chynna Clugston-Major and Andi Watson. The book reprints the original series, as well as all of the short stories published prior to the series' release (the short stories will be presented in black & white in this edition). Plus, the online strips that were presented in the original edition are being expanded to full-page size, adding a few extra pages to the book.
Here's how Oni describes the book:
"Dirk and Nikki Hopeless-Savage have been kidnapped by music industry colleagues from their past and its up to their children Zero, Twitch, and Arsenal to band together and find their estranged brother, Rat to help them find their parents and make Zero's band's concert on time! Action, adventure, and hilarity ensue!"
Reprinted in the new Sidekicks volume is the original Transfer Student material, as well as last summer's The Substitute one-shot and a long lost treasure pulled from the Oni vaults - the original eight-page short story featured in writer J. Torres' own anthology series Love In Tights, which introduced Terry Highland.
In the book's lead story, The Transfer Student, Terry is the new kid at Shuster Academy, but this isn't like any school that she has ever been to before! The kids and the teachers all have superpowers and the students are being trained to become superheroes! Terry arrives at school and quickly learns that the use of your powers outside of class can get you expelled. So, when three teenage vigilantes by the names of "Biff," "Pow," and "Bam," burst onto the school scene, it sends the student body into an uproar. With Terry working on the school newspaper, she takes it upon herself to uncover the identities of these three mysterious students!
In The Substitute, it's a new semester and Terry's class has a new teacher - a former super villain fresh out of jail, now fulfilling her community service!
"Sidekicks is such a fun book," says series editor James Lucas Jones. "It's the perfect book for American comic book fans, plus it has all of the best elements of Manga, including amazing artwork by Japanese artist Takeshi Miyazawa. IMAGE COLLECTS INVINCIBLE
Image Comics has announced that the first four issues of Invincible are being collected on Aug. 13 in Invincible, Vol. One: Family Matters.
"We pulled out all the stops for this one," writer Robert Kirkman said. "Bill Crabtree went back in and touched up all the coloring, I fixed a couple typos that crept into the book and we've got a huge bonus section with production art, unused covers, characters designs, sketches and all kinds of stuff from series artist and Russ Manning Award nominee, Cory Walker."
Here's how Image describes the book:
"Invincible is the story of Mark Grayson, a teenage boy like most everyone else his age. He's a senior at a typical American high school, he has a crappy part-time job, he enjoys hanging out with his friends and he likes girls quite a bit (even if he can't understand them). What sets him apart, though, is that his father just happens to be the most powerful superhero on the planet. And lately, Mark seems to be inheriting his father's abilities. Which is okay at first, but how does Mark hope to follow in dad's footsteps when he knows he'll never live up to his standards?"
Kurt Busiek is writing the introduction to the trade paperback.

WORLD'S BEST COMICS FROM DC
Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Plastic Man share the spotlight on Oct. 1 in World's Best Comics: The Golden Age DC Archives Sampler, a 48-page collection of some of DC Comics' greatest Golden Age tales that is priced at 99 cents.
"We've had several retailers suggest a low-priced entry point to our Archives program, so we're happy to offer World's Best Comics," said Bob Wayne, DC's VP - sales and marketing. "This will be a terrific tool to introduce new readers to the excitement and thrills of DC's Golden Age comics."
The stories include:
* "The Construction Conspiracy," written by Jerry Siegel with art by Joe Shuster (originally presented in Superman #6, September/October 1945 - also available in Superman Archives Volume 2).
* "The Riddle of the Missing Card," written by Bill Finger with art by Bob Kane (originally presented in Batman #5, Spring 1941 - also available in The Dark Knight Archives Volume 2).
* "Mission to Planet Eros," written by William Moulton Marston with art by H.G. Peter (originally presented in Sensation Comics #11, November 1942 - also available in Wonder Woman Archives Volume 1).
* "The Granite Lady," written and illustrated by Jack Cole (originally presented in Police Comics #51, February 1946 - available in the upcoming Plastic Man Archives Volume 5, scheduled to be in stores on Sept. 10).
World's Best Comics: The Golden Age Dc Archives Sampler also will include a complete checklist of every DC Archive published to date.
