JEREMIAH UPDATE

Platinum Studios' Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, executive producer of Showtime's Jeremiah, told The Continuum he feels the second season is "an event." this season really feels like a 15-hour saga

"Why do I call this an event? Because this season really feels like a 15-hour saga," Rosenberg said.

The first of the second season's 15 episodes, "Letters From the Other Side: Part One," airs Friday on Showtime. In the episode, Jeremiah has come to Valhalla Sector and found his father but it seems Ezekiel was right - his presence may pave the way to disaster. With Markus and Erin also captives of Valhalla Sector's rulers, only Kurdy remains free to try to avert it.

In other Jeremiah news:

* The first season of Jeremiah will be release on DVD with a six-disc set on Jan. 20. The collection will include all of the first season's episodes.

* Below are two images from the upcoming "Deus Ex Machina" episode featuring David Palffy as Cory and Sean Astin as Mr. Smith. Click on all of the thumbnails for larger images.

HELLBOY MOVIE UPDATE

Dynamic Forces Inc. and J.A. Roth and Associates have announced an exclusive arrangement with Revolution Studios to produce limited edition and collectible merchandise for the Hellboy movie.

The license, finalized earlier this month, allows for Dynamic Forces to produce high-end lithographs, giclees, wallscrolls and other collectible pieces of art featuring images and characters from the film.

"I've known Mike [Mignola, Creator of Hellboy] for many years and have always been a big fan of his work," said Nick Barrucci, President of Dynamic Forces. "To finally be able to see his creation up on the big screen, and to produce some 'dynamic' product for that big-screen adaptation is a dream come true. This movie is going to rock!"

"This is a great opportunity for us to promote our exciting film through high-end collectibles which are an accurate and exciting representation of Hellboy's amazing characters," said James Costos, head of promotions and consumer products for Revolution Studios.

"DF is the industry's largest producer of high-end art reproductions," explained Russell Binder, of J.A. Roth and Associates. "There was really no other choice in this category and we're very happy to be working with them on this project."

RON GARNEY EXCLUSIVE TO DC

Ron Garney, artist of titles such as Captain America, Uncanny X-Men and The Hulk, has signed a two-year exclusive agreement with DC Comics.

"So far my experience with DC has been very refreshing," Garney said. Ê"There's a real professional atmosphere in the office, and people have been outstanding as far as their enthusiasm for me coming on board. ÊI've never had the chance to draw the DC characters other than the JLA: Our Worlds at War one-shot, so I'm interested to see how my artwork will evolve drawing them on a more consistent basis. So far I'm having a real ball, more so than I probably expected, especially whenever I have the chance to draw Superman."

"Ron's dynamic art style is exactly what we need to complement some of the powerful stories coming from DC in the near future," says Dan DiDio, DC's VP - editorial.

Garney's upcoming work for DC includes an unscheduled 6-issue JLA story arc written by Chuck Austen. According to DC, other projects are in early discussion stages and will be announced as detailed become available.

IDW'S SACRED HEARTS

Sacred Hearts, IDW Publishing's first ongoing series, will launch next year. Sacred Hearts is a new horror book by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith, the creative team behind 30 Days of Night and Dark Days.

While IDW has become known for its miniseries, especially in the horror genre, editor-in-chief Jeff Mariotte said, "We've been looking for the right property, and the right team, to launch our first ongoing series. In Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith, we have that team--Steve's high-concept storytelling is second to none, and Ben brings Steve's ideas to life brilliantly. And in Sacred Hearts we have that property--a sure winner."

Said Niles, "Sacred Hearts is a combination of ideas I've been playing with for a while. It's sort of a horror soap opera with characters like vampires, werewolves, devils and one poor priest who walks the line between the holy and unholy.

"At its core, Sacred Hearts is about self discovery and the idea that no matter what life hands us, we are not doomed to any one path. The main character is a man who has just lost his adopted parents and is told a terrible secret before they pass. Everything he ever thought he was has been a lie and now, in searching for the truth he will enter a world--a gauntlet--of religious zealots, Satanic cults, and creatures of the night."

Said Templesmith: "Don't expect the artwork to be the same as 30 Days of Night--my first printed work--but expect it to have the same vibrancy and atmosphere. I'm going to experiment like hell on this one."
