SMALLVILLE UPDATE"Slumber," Wednesday's episode of Smallville on The WB, will feature five songs from R.E.M. The songs will include "Imitation of Life," "Everybody Hurts," "Losing My Religion," "Bad Day" and "At My Most Beautiful." All of the sons are featured on the group's new album, In Time: The Best of R.E.M. 1988-2003, scheduled for release on Oct. 20 from Warner Bros. Records. In "Slumber," Clark Kent (Tom Welling) dreams he is being pursued by a frightened young girl who needs his help. After Clark discovers the apparition is actually that of a comatose neighbor who should have awoken years ago, he enlists Lana Lang's (Kristin Kreuk) help to uncover the truth - which puts Lana in grave danger. FIRST LOOKS: BRATH #8Brath #8 will arrive in stores on Wednesday from CrossGen Entertainment. The issus is written by Chuck Dixon, penciled by Andrea Di Vito, inked by Roland Paris and colored by Rob Schwager. Here's how CrossGen describes the issue: "His home burns, his child has been kidnapped...but Brath Mac Garen, a.k.a. the Hammer of Ure, will bow to no man! Betrayed on the battlefield, Brath has been taken to the feet of the Emperor...but don't expect him to kneel." Brath #8 will be 32 pages and will cost $2.95.
SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN PREVIEWMarvel Comics on Monday released a six-page preview from "Countdown," the new story arc in Spectacular Spider-Man. Here's how Marvel describes the story: "Out to ruin his long-time foe once and for all, Doc Ock has given the wall-crawler an ultimatum. For the safe release of the Palestinian ambassador he's holding hostage, Spider-Man must reveal his identity to the entire world! Is Spider-Man's biggest secret worth neutralizing a situation that could lead to war? Before its over a defeated Spider-Man and a triumphant Doc Ock will have a High Noon showdown in Times Square with countless innocent lives hanging in the balance!" The five-part arc will kick off in Spectacular Spider-Man #6, on sale on Nov. 12, with #7 shipping on Nov. 26.
