REVISED ULTIMATE FF #1 COVER, POSTER

Marvel Comics on Tuesday released a revised image for Bryan Hitch's cover Ultimate Fantastic Four #1, which will also be released as a 24"x36" poster.

According to Marvel, when the image was first illustrated for solicitation, Hitch was just referencing notes from Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada and conversations with series co-writer Mark Millar. Hitch didn't get to see the first pencil work by series artist Adam Kubert and the scripts by Brian Michael Bendis Mark Millar scripts for the first full story arc until after the image was completed.

"I did that first cover before I felt I had a comfortable handle on the characters beyond their basic looks," Hitch said. "And given what I'd seen of the work on the book so far, I felt I could have done better. Whereas I like the design of the shot, I felt I had missed the intelligent playfulness of Sue we had worked hard to get into the design in the first place, so I was adamant that I had another pass at her. A few coloring tweaks, and it's now a piece I'm happy with that lives up to the quality of the rest of the teams work in the book."

Ultimate Fantastic Four #1 goes on sale on Dec. 31. The poster goes on sale on Dec. 3.

ASTONISH FACTORY'S DREAMLAND CHRONICLES

The Astonish Factory, the new company formed with the merger of Astonish Comics and Blue Dream Studios, on Tuesday announced its first comic book title under its new regime: The Dreamland Chronicles.

The latest 3D-animated comic book from Spider-Man: Quality of Life and The Lab artist Scott Christian Sava, The Dreamland Chronicles will be 48 pages and will launch in December.

The first issue will feature four different covers from four different artists. Sava supplies one of them, while the other three are supplied by The Astonish Factory's co-owner and Herobear and the Kid creator Mike Kunkel, Mike Wieringo, and Dean Yeagle.

Slated to ship quarterly throughout its run, The Dreamland Chronicles is a story about a young boy named Alexander who has incredible adventures in Dreamland every night with his friends -- Nastajia the elf princess, Paddington the rock boy, and Kiwi the fairy. On his twelfth birthday his dreams stop. Eight years later, Alexander has started dreaming again and finds himself in a world filled with giants, dragons, mermaids, and pirates. Dealing with every day life as a college student is hard enough; now Alex must deal with nightly adventures in Dreamland and his newfound feelings for his childhood sweetheart, Nastajia the Elf princess.

"The Dreamland Chronicles is my chance to tell the type of stories I grew up on as a kid," Sava said. "I've always loved fantasy stories with dragons and giants and elves and...well...all those things that make you dream of faraway places as a kid. I've been honing my skills in storytelling over the last few years with Spider-Man and the Lab, waiting for the right time to embark on this epic journey. Now, with Mike and I doing The Astonish Factory, the right time is now. I'm truly excited to be finally telling this fantastic story."
