AVENGERS/JLA CONCLUDES IN FEBRUARY

The climactic fourth issue of the Avengers/JLA mini-series by Kurt Busiek and George Perez has been rescheduled by DC Comics for an in-store date of Feb. 18.

"What happened is that I worked myself into tendonitis with the cover to issue #3," Perez said. "No one else is to blame but me: not Marvel, not DC. I've been slowed down a tad, but I'm determined to get this thing done. I just don't want to let anyone down by rushing at the end. I'm grateful to everyone involved for being so patient.

"And I'd like to point out that despite having two creators who've had their share of physical ailments in the last few years, we've delivered three issues on time!"

Perez first announced the delay at Wizard World Texas, noting that the injury-inducing cover to #3 took him three weeks to complete.

JOE KELLY, MIKE MCKONE EXCLUSIVE TO DC

DC Comics on Tuesday announced it has reached exclusive agreement extensions of one year with Justice League writer Joe Kelly and Teen Titans artist Mike McKone.

Kelly's next project for DC will be Justice League Elite. "DC has been my home for over four years now, and I am thrilled to continue our relationship," Kelly said. "Everyone has proven very easy to work with. My editors are all top notch: supportive, creative, and enthusiastic about the work. The projects I have slated for 2004 are very diverse, including the provocative Justice League Elite and the revamp of a beloved character (more on that soon!). Creatively, I couldn't be happier with my workload, and I anticipate an even wider range of projects as the year progresses."

"I'm glad Joe's sticking around with DC," said senior group editor Mike Carlin."While we'll be shifting to multiple creators on the regular JLA title this year, don't be tricked into thinking Joe's done with the team...just wait till you see what he's cooked up for the new Justice League Elite series! He's got some other new things up his sleeve as well, so it'll be nice to know where to find Joe for another year ‹ DC Comics!"

McKone said he "couldn't be happier" in reupping with DC.

"Drawing Teen Titans is the best gig in comics, and I'm delighted that DC has invited me to stick around for another year," McKone said. "Working with Geoff Johns, Eddie Berganza and Tom Palmer Jr. has been the highlight of 15 years of drawing these silly little pamphlets, and we've barely scratched the surface of what we'd like to do with this book."

"One of the things I attribute the success of Teen Titans to is Mike McKone's mighty pencils," said senior editor Eddie Berganza. "He makes the fantastic seem plausible. When Cyborg steps onto San Francisco's streets, you can feel the ground shake. When Deathstroke pummels Robin, you can feel the Boy Wonder's pain. I'm glad we've got Mike on our side, and I think we're going to get even better stuff from him in the months to come."
