LUKE CAGE MOVIE

Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios told The Continuum that a live-action Luke Cage movie is making progress at Sony and might be a 2005 release.

"Ben Ramsey turned in one of the best drafts that I have ever read," Feige said during The Continuum's visit to the Marvel Studios offices on Tuesday night.

Ramsey wrote and directed Love and a Bullet and also wrote The Big Hit.

"It's going to have a totally unique flavor from all of our films," Feige said. "It's totally contemporary Cage and a helluva lot of fun."

Feige said Cage's signature "Sweet Christmas" is part of the film, but this isn't a retro-movie.

"All of the movies we've done take place in modern day, but it's about finding a hip and contemporary way to get in some of those classic references," Feige said.

A director or star for the project have not been announced yet.

  • Batman and Robin will make another appearance on Static Stock during its fourth season, it was announced Tuesday by Kids' WB! at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Hollywood, Calif. Static's new season starts Saturday with an episode guest-starring Batman Beyond. Other guest-stars this season will include Green Lantern and players from the NBA in a Februray sweeps episode.

  • The official movie novel for The Punisher will be published by Del Rey in March. The author for the novelization is D.A. Stern. Look for more news on The Punisher very soon here in The Continuum.
