SMALLVILLE UPDATE

The WB has released four images from "Whisper," the new episode of Smallville scheduled to air on Wednesday.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"Attempting to stop a robbery, Clark (Tom Welling) is temporarily blinded when he shoots off a burst of heat vision that is accidentally reflected back into his eyes by a piece of kryptonite and soon realizes his body has developed super-hearing to compensate for his lack of sight. However, as it was in the beginning with his other gifts, Clark doesn't quite have his new power under control."

"Whisper" was written by Ken Horton and directed by Thomas J. Wright.

PUNISHER MOVIE UPDATE

Marvel Studios' Ari Arad told The Continuum that The Punisher movie is almost completed.

The film, written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh, will be in theaters on April 16.

"The movie he said he was going to make, he made, so that's exciting," Arad said during The Continuum's visit to Marvel Studios earlier this week.

Arad, the son of Marvel Studios honcho Avi Arad, is a co-producer on The Punisher.

"We always wanted to do something intense and classic and a movie that's going to kick your ass in the way a movie hasn't in a long time -- and we're there," Arad said. "It's superbly acted and well directed."

Early buzz on the film is that Thomas Jane pulls off the intensity of the character well.

"The Punisher's super-powers come from his resolve," Arad said. "It's totally emotion, moreso than any of our characters you've seen. When he puts on that skull, it's a subtle transformation, but he's going out to mete punishment."

Arad also had praise for Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, who plays Joan, Frank Castle's neighbor.

"Her role is substantial," Arad said "I couldn't tell you her screen time or shooting days, but it's wildly influential on Frank Castle's evolution into The Punisher.

"Rebecca pulled it off extremely well. Joan is an interesting character. She's a little different from Joan the Mouse in the comic. I don't think Rebecca's ever going to look mousey. But she's terrific in the movie."

Look for more on The Punisher soon and more from The Continuum's visit to Marvel Studios on Saturday.
