DAVID BOREANAZ TALKS ANGELDavid Boreanaz's first time directing probably won't be his last. The star of The WB's Angel went behind the cameras for his directorial debut with "Soul Purpose," the episode that airs this Wednesday, and from all indiciations, things went swimmingly. "David directed as well as anybody we've had -- and that's really embarrassing," joked series executive producer, creator and frequent director Joss Whedon. Whedon and the cast of Angel assembled at The WB's Winter Press Tour for the Television Critics Associaiton, where they talked about the show's fifth season and upcoming episodes. CATWOMAN UPDATEEntertainment Weekly has provided The Continuum with a cover of its new Jan. 23-30 issue, which features Halle Berry as Catwoman. The double issue is EW's look at "can't-miss entertainment" in 2004 and also includes Spider-Man 2. "It's definitely more edgy, more reflective of the times," Berry told the magazine about this version of Catwoman, which will be in theaters on July 30. "She's in touch with her sexuality, thinking, 'Damn! I look good! I should enjoy this! Catwoman is all about empowerment." In other Catwoman news, Berry posted the following message on her fan board: "Catwoman is going well and I can't wait to share this film with you guys. I believe you all are going to love it..despite the controversy over the mask!" Click on the thumbnails for larger images and look for more on Catwoman soon here in The Continuum.
MAN-THING MOVIE UPDATEMarvel Studios' Ari Arad told The Continuum that the lead character in the upcoming Man-Thing movie will be a combination of prosthetics and computer-generated effects. "From the outset, Man-Thing was intended to be a prosthetic, CG-enhanced creature," Arad told The Continuum during a visit to Marvel Studios last week. "So there was a great deal of R&D. "There's positional stuff happening on location, on the set, but at the same time the stuff you don't currently see in camera was always engineered to be enhanced by digital effects. So when you see the movie, hopefully the line is pretty blurry. It's not an all-CG creature." Arad said that Man-Thing is a bit more of a depature from the original comic than Marvel's other films. "It's a horror movie," he said. "It's a different telling of the Man-Thing. He's more menacing."
