DAREDEVIL MOVIE UPDATE

Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige told The Continuum that the upcoming new Daredevil DVD will be a "whole new experience."

The DVD will be a director's cut, with many new scenes, and will be rated R. It is being targeted for a spring release.

"I hope the people who loved the first one will love this one even more," Feige said. "And I think who the people who had other opinions will be won over by this new version.

"Moreso than many director's cuts that you'll see, it's really a different experience. Not only are there other subplots and things in it, there are turns in his character, darker turns, and more interesting turns that he takes in this version."

Feige said that writer/director Mark Steven Johnson and producer Avi Arad of Marvel Studios are providing a new audio commentary for the director's cut. "It's very entertaining," he said.

Like Fox's X-Men franchise did with its titles, the new Daredevil DVD might be called Daredevil 1.5, but unlike the X-Men version, there will be no lookahead materials.

An Elektra spin-off movie is being targeted to go before the cameras next year, but a Daredevil sequel might be a few years down the road. Ben Affleck, who starred as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, has been quoted in recent reports as saying he's reluctant to return to the role.

"There are many more stories to be told with old Hornhead and we'd love to tell them someday," Feige said. "Right now, all of our efforts are on Elektra's solo adventure."

ANGEL UPDATE

Charisma Carpenter is returning to her role as Cordelia Chase for the 100th episode of Angel, scheduled to air Wednesday, Feb. 4 on The WB.

The episode is titled "You're Welcome."

Here's how the network describes the story:

Cordelia mysteriously awakens from her coma and is shocked to discover that instead of fighting against the evil law firm, Wolfram & Hart, Angel (David Boreanaz) and the group are now running it. Realizing that Angel has lost his conviction to be a hero, Cordelia gives him the information and support he needs to get back on track. Meanwhile, while Angel has security keeping an eye on Eve (Sarah Thompson), her partner Lindsay (guest star Christian Kane) prepares to bring about Angel's demise."

Angel has enjoyed renewed success in its fifth season and is currently The WB's second highest-rated series with adults 18-34.
