NEW HAWKMAN TEAMDC Comics has announced the new creative team on Hawkman beginning in May: writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, artists Ryan Sook and Mick Gray and cover artists Greg Land and Jay Leisten. "This assignment combines a couple of things I've been working toward: straightforward super-heroics and gritty crime," Sook said. "Those are two things that I haven't had a chance to do in comics yet. I'm looking forward to jumping on and doing the best I can with it." "Justin and I are really looking forward to this series," Palmiotti said. "We both are huge fans of what Geoff Johns and his crew did with the character and are flattered to have a chance to step up to the plate and give it a shot. It really helps having super-talent like Ryan Sook, Mick Gray and John Kalisz on our team as well. We have plenty in store for this series! It's all very exciting!" "Mace? Check! Nth metal? Check! Wings? Check! Ready to rain down justice from above? Hell, yeah!" Gray said. The new creative team begins its run with "Fate's Warning," a four-issue story arc that, according to DC, "exposes both the darkest corners of St. Roch and the troubled mind of a hero."
DEAD@17 SELLS OUTDead@17 #2, Viper Comics' debut title, is sold out from Diamond Comics Distributors, according to the publisher. The current series will close with #4, out on Feb. 25. Dead@17: Blood of Saints #1 will launch in April. "Just before issue #3 arrived in stores we had already filled two purchase re-orders for Diamond Comics Distributors, which caught us by surprise being the book hadnšt even arrived in stores," said Jessie Garza, Viper Comics president. Above is a look at the cover to the fourth issue, as well as #2. Click on the thumbnails for larger views.
BRIEFLYHere's how the book is described: "Video takes a look at the Second Coming; how a group of friends are affected when they are abandoned as 'non-believers,' left behind in a world without a God or a fully-staffed Wal-Mart. Plenty of dark comedy and drama packed into a story about abandonment, faith, and gas masks." The new line, replicas of some of the earliest Batmobiles from the original Batman comic book series produced by DC Comics since 1939, has been already shown at the Spielwarenmesse, an international toy fair held in Nuremberg, Germany; and at Toy Fair, London; and are debuting for the American market at Toy Fair in New York this week. Corgi will produce 11 Batmobile models for 2004. Included will be the 1940s Batmobile, a Jokermobile and a Batbike, as well as the 1960s Batmobile and the 2004 See Through Batmobile. The total range includes vehicles from 1:43 to 1:18 scale. Prices will range from $7.99 to $29.99.
