Monday, February 23, 2004ELEKTRA MOVIE UPDATE![]() Although production isn't expected to start until May, Jennifer Garner said that she is getting ready for the Elektra movie. "I am officially getting started on training," Garner said in an interview with E! on Sunday night. "In a couple of weeks, I'll be grrrrrrrrrrr," she added, flexing her muscles. Garner was at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night. She was nominated, but lost, for her role in Alias, and also was a presenter. Elektra, which is expected to begin production in May, spins off of Daredevil. In an earlier interview, Garner said playing Elektra is a notch up in the action department. "Alias was kind of my bootcamp for Daredevil," she said. "I would say I went into it prepared to take on the next challenge, which was learning to fight with weapons, fighting every single day, learning to do the extensive wire work that we did in the movie." Look for more on Elektra soon here in The Continuum.
THE PUNISHER MOVIE UPDATE
The Punisher movie arriving in theaters on April 16 will be rated R -- which is exactly what the filmmakers intended. "We never wanted to water it down to get a younger audience," said Marvel Studios' Ari Arad, a co-producer. "He's never been aimed towards younger kids. I think he was someone most people discovered later. "We never wanted to try it as PG-13. It's going to be The Punisher. It's going to be intense." Producer Gale Anne Hurd said she applauded Marvel for going ahead with an R-rated version for the film. "They've had a pretty terrific history with Blade, which is an R-rated character and has an R-rated audience," Hurd told The Continuum. "Obviously, we aren't in a position to rate the film. But in terms of the intensity and in terms of the action and all of that, the intent was certainly not to make the G, PG or PG-13 version. That's certainly quite a distinction fron the Hulk and Spider-Man and the characters by rights belong into a PG or PG-13 world. The Punisher doesn't."
