SPIDER-MAN 2 MOVIE UPDATE

Spider-Man 2: HBO First Look, a 13-minute, behind-the-scenes special, will debut on HBO on Thursday, June 24 at 10:45 p.m.

Other showings of the special include Friday, June 25 at 8:45 a.m.; Sunday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m.; Monday, June 28 at 4:15 p.m.; and Wednesday, June 30 at 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The film opens on June 30.

In other Spider-Man movie news:

* HBO will also show the first Spider-Man movie eight times in June: at 9:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 6; Friday, June 11 at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.; Wednesday, June 16 at 2 p.m.; Saturday, June 26 at 11:30 a.m.; Wednesday, June 30 at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

* The Detroit Tigers are the latest Major League Baseball team to announce a promotion day in conjunction with the film. The Tigers' Spider-Man day will be Sunday, June 13.

HELLBOY MOVIE UPDATE

The Hellboy movie finished first at the box office on Friday with $8.7 million.

According to figures poste by BoxOfficeMojo.com, Hellboy had a sizable lead over second-place Walking Tall, which had $5.5 million.

* Ron Perlman, who plays Hellboy, was a guest on CBS' The Late Show with Craig Kilborn on Friday night. He compared Hellboy to Beast from Beauty and the Beast in that both characters enjoy the world but were limited because of their nature.

MUTANT X UPDATE

Tribune Entertainment has released a logline for "In Between," the episode of Mutant X scheduled to air the week of April 18.

Here's how Tribune describes the episode:

"When Jesse's (Forbes March) life hangs in the balance, Brennan (Victor Webster) must connect to him and lead him through past memories they've shared in order to save his life."

The episode was written by Gil Grant and directed by Andrew Potter.

DC Comics has announced its first wave of titles from Humanoids. As Humanoids' English-language publisher, DC presents these titles in a new format, designed to fit on a bookshelf while maintaining the original aspect ratio of the art.

The following titles, all suggested for mature readers, are scheduled to arrive in stores this summer:

  • Diamond has confirmed that Dreamwave Productions' Devil May Cry Book One: Evil Woman, the first in a four-issue limited series based on the Capcom video game, is sold out.

    "I am so happy about Devil May Cry," said Dreamwave's Pat Lee. "This book has been my blood, sweat and tears for the past few months and it is so exciting to see it out finally. I'm glad that the response has been absolutely positive and I can't wait for everyone to see the rest of the series."

  • IDW Publishing has announced its contribution to Free Comic Book Day: an IDW sampler containing excerpts from 24, CSI, The Shield and 30 Days of Night.
