SPIDER-MAN 2 UPDATE

Kirsten Dunst, who is returning as Mary Jane in Spider-Man 2, said she will have another upside-down kiss in the sequel.

"I do, isn't that weird?" she said. "And you'll see why."

Dunst made the comments during a spot on Access Hollywood, which listed the film as No. 1 among its Smokin' Summer Movies.

"We're doing everything with the knowledge of the first one, so the special effects are better and the stunts are better and all that stuff," said star Tobey Maguire, "but it's all supported by the story, which is what's important to me."

Look for The Continuum's coverage of Maguire's WonderCon appearance this weekend.

In other Spider-Man news:

* Nokia and Activision on Monday announced that Spider-Man 2 will be released for the N-Gage game deck under a license between Spider-Man Merchandising and Activision.

Mobile gamers will be able to swing, web sling and jump through four fully 3D levels, providing a dynamic environment on a handheld gaming device. Fifteen additional 2D levels provide a challenging arena to combat a wide range of enemies, including new enemy bosses such as the Lizard and Doc Ock that have their own unique attack moves. Web slinging gamers will also be able to upload their best performances to the N-Gage Arena, as well as unlock additional content for the game.

"The immersive 3D graphics and gameplay that Spider-Man 2 brings to the N-Gage will amaze and inspire gamers," said Pasi Polonen, Director of Game Publishing, Games Business Unit, Nokia. "Together with the new levels, characters and plotline, fans of Spider-Man will find plenty of action to keep them coming back for more."

Spider-Man 2 is expected to be available for the N-Gage game deck this summer.

* MTV2 continues to show rerun of the Spider-Man animated series. Episodes Saturday include "Spider-man Dis-sabled" at midnight and "Tight Squeeze" at 12:30 a.m.

BOX OFFICE UPDATE

The Punisher movie dropped from second to fourth at the box office in its second week of release.

The Punisher took in an estimated $6.1 million, trailing $23 million from Man on Fire, $22 million from 13 Going on 30 and $10.4 million from Kill Bill Vol 2.

The Punisher's two-week take is $24.0 million. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, who plays Joan, will continue to promote the film -- and her new picture Godsend -- on Live with Regis and Kelly and Late Night with Conan O'Brien on Tuesday and The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live on Friday.

13 Going on 30 stars Jennifer Garner, who will next play the title role in Marvel's Elektra.

"This is a stepping stone to stardom," said Revolution Studios' Tom Sherak. "The camera loves her, you can see it, you can feel it."

Hellboy placed eighth with $3.0 million, pushing its four-week total to $54.7 million and virtually assuring a sequel.

IMAGE'S DIORAMAS, A LOVE STORY

Writer Mark Ricketts said Dioramas, A Love Story -- a graphic novel arriving in stores on Wednesday from Image Comics -- is "rather unconventional."

"It's a mystery in the tradition of Mulholland Drive or Eyes Wide Shut," Rickett said. "Nothing is as it appears to be. Both the story and its characters have a dissociative disorder. Sure, it's a crime story. But it's also a subtly expressionistic mind game.²

Here's how Image describes the book:

"Traumatized by the murder of her partner, ex-cop Charlotte Ramage would like to put the past behind her. But her worst nightmare, the monster who killed her partner, is in love with her. And no admirer expresses his love quite like Winfield Vickers: He's a serial killer with a highly evolved aesthetic sense and enough repressed desire to make Freud wince.

"In short, he's a madman in love."

The book, illustrated by Dario Brizuela, is 144 pages and will cost $12.95.

"I'm really excited that Image had faith in this book," Ricketts said. "I think it says great things about a company and the people who run it that you can find such diversity there."

ELEKTRA MOVIE UPDATE

ER's Goran Visnjic has joined the cast of the Elektra movie, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Visnjic will play the target of Elektra's assassination plot. He joins Jennifer Garner and Terence Stamp in the cast.

Visnjic joined NBCs ER in 1999, playing the role of Dr. Luka Kovac, a Croatian doctor who immigrated to the United States after the violent deaths of his wife and children.

Visnjic grew up in Sibenik, Croatia, a port town on the Adriatic Sea, where he decided at an early age that he wanted to be an actor. He first performed in local theater groups and then entered the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. He gained popularity in Croatia when, at the age of 21, he was cast as Hamlet in the prestigious Dubrovnik Summer Festival's staging of Shakespeare's play. The production received rave reviews, with Visnjic's own performance earning him three national Best Actor awards, including an Orlando (the Croatian equivalent of a Tony).

Visnjic starred in last week's USA Network movie Spartacus and is in the current theatrical release Close Your Eyes.

Elektra, directed by Rob Bowman, is expected to go before the cameras next month.
