BATMAN BEGINS UPDATE

Warner Bros. Consumer Products provided a description of the Batman Begins film in a release on Tuesday at Licensing International 2004 in New York.

Here's how the film is described:

"Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins explores the origins of the Batman legend and The Dark Knight's emergence as a force for good in Gotham. In the wake of his parents' murder, disillusioned industrial heir Bruce Wayne travels the world seeking the means to fight injustice and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful. He returns to Gotham and unveils his alter ego, Batman, a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city."

Among the licensees for the film will be Mattel, the global toy licensee for the Batman brand.

"With the new film and animated content set to arrive in 2004 and 2005, we are excited to connect our partners to the global strength of the franchise," said Dan Romanelli, President, Warner Bros. Worldwide Consumer Products. "Batman has long been one of our strongest properties, and we believe this resurgence will really take the franchise to a whole new level for fans around the world."

KRYPTO THE SUPERDOG

Warner Bros. has announced a Krypto The Supderdog animated series to join Cartoon Network's lineup in spring 2005.

The announcement was made Tuesday by Warner Bros. Consumer Products at Licensing International 2004 in New York.

Here's how the show is described:

"Krypto The Superdog chronicles the comedic canine adventures of Metropolis' day-saving superdog from Planet Krypton. Krypto jettisons to Earth after traveling across the galaxies as a test-pilot puppy aboard a malfunctioning rocket ship built by Superman's father. Landing astray on unfamiliar terrain, the fully-grown Krypto swiftly seeks out companionship on Earth and flips over Kevin Whitney, a young boy who too longs for friendship. With an amazing array of super hero powers, ranging from heat vision to super strength to flying, Krypto partners with best pal Kevin to fight evil forces that threaten the safety and well-being of the people and animals of Metropolis."

Twenty-six episodes of Krypto are currently in production.

Warner also provided a new description of The Batman animated series:

"The new series is a totally fresh take on Batman -- in his mid 20's and only in year three of actually being a super hero. When he's not Bruce Wayne, the hip young billionaire bachelor CEO of Wayne Industries, he's The Batman - an urban legend in Gotham City. To help him fight the criminals of Gotham City and bring them to justice, he has an array of unique Bat-gadgets, vehicles for every terrain and situation that are operated by a remote control system he refers to as 'Batwave,' and spare Batsuits planted around the city, ready to be accessed at a moment's notice."

Warner also announced a total of 52 episodes of Teen Titans will air on Cartoon Network and Kids' WB! through 2005, with Season 3 set to launch in mid-September.
