Monday, July 5, 2004SPIDER-MAN 2 UPDATESpider-Man 2 smashed its way through the holiday weekend, setting several box-office records. According to Reuters, Sony Pictures is estimatng the film will pull in an $180.1 million in its first six days after an $88.3 million take over the weekend. That trounced the previous six-day opening of $146.9, set last year by The Matrix Reloaded. "I think our hope was to go into the heart of the summer and grab the biggest six days possible. That's pretty much what happened," said Jeff Blake, vice chairman of Sony. SMALLVILLE UPDATEA casting announcement for the role of Lois Lane in The WB's Smallville will be made "very soon," a source told The Continuum. Lois will appear in at least the first four episodes of the fourth season of the show, which is targeted for an October launch. In other Smallville news, The WB continues double doses of episodes on Wednesday, July 14 with repeats of "Extinction" and "Slumber." Both episodes are from Season 3. TEEN TITANS UPDATEThe Teen Titans animated series continues to provide improved ratings for Cartoon Network. For the recently completed second quarter, in its 6:30 p.m. time period, Teen Titans provided a 36 percent delivery (667,000) increase and a 40 percent ratings increase from the same period the year before. In Kids 2-11, the show increased delivery (1.03 million) by 50 percent and ratings by 53 percent. Teen Titans also continues to air on Kids' WB!.
