IDW PUBLISHING ROUNDUPSteve Niles is team with Thomas Jane, star of The Punisher movie, on a new six-issue project for IDW Publishing called Bad Planet. Niles told The Continuum he met Jane at the Wizard World Los Angeles show. Both appeared at IDW's panel at Comic-Con International. "It was Tom's idea," Niles said. "He came up to me and pitched it. It's full-blown science fiction." * Niles' Hyde, which has been optioned by Dimension Films, is now scheduled for an October release, with new artist Nick Stakal. In Hyde, Niles tells the story of two brilliant but misunderstood scientists who are racing to unlock the mystery of manıs dual nature. They succeed, unleashing a murderous beast on a terrified city. As suspicion and treachery grow, the startling secret of the beastıs origin is revealed. "I've always wanted to do a really nasty Hyde," says writer Steve Niles. "I always thought he was pretty restrained for a guy with no conscience in older versions. In Hyde he's about as wrong as wrong can get." The 48-page book will cost $7.49. *Following the Silent Hill: Dying Inside mini-series, IDW will release the 48-page Silent Hill: Among The Damned in October. The book written by New York Times best-selling author and writer of Silent Hill: Dying Inside, Scott Ciencin and features art by Shaun Thomas. The story follows a young soldier suffering from survivor's guilt into the darkened confines of Silent Hill. There he will meet a doomed soul that will change his life foreveror end it. *"The response to Silent Hill: Dying Inside was overwhelming," said Kris Oprisko, the book's editor. "We literally couldn't keep the comics in print and the trade had terrific initial orders. The story Scott's come up with for Silent Hill: Among the Damned is one of the scariest scripts I've ever read. Silent Hill fans won't be disappointed." * Paramount Pictures has optioned Aleister Arcane. * Jeff Mariotte's new Desperadoes series will launch in December.
