CHRIS GIARRUSSO'S G-MAN

Chris Giarrusso, best known for his humorous Bullpen Bits and Mini Marvels books from Marvel Comics, is unleashing his own kid superhero creations in G-Man #1 in December from Image Comics.

Like Giarrusso's Mini Marvels work, G-Mam features the adventurous antics of little kid superheroes.

"These guys are small," Giarrusso said. "But they aren't mini versions of anybody else. Likewise, when they run into other established characters like the Savage Dragon, it's the real Dragon, not a mini-Dragon."

G-Man #1, Giarrusso's first creator-owned book, is a 64-page one-shot and features an all-new 34-page lead story revealing the origin of G-Man.

"The story basically introduces G-Man and his brother, shows how they get their powers and follows them on their very first adventure," Giarrusso said. "Of course, there'll be plenty of G-Man's super powered friends along for the ride."

G-MAN #1 will also feature a collection of Giarrusso's Comics Bits strip. This book will be the perfect opportunity for fans to see what they've been missing from the fan-favorite Mini Marvels creator.

IDW'S BIGFOOT

IDW Publishing has announced Bigfoot, a four-issue mini-series due early next that teams Steve Niles, Rob Zombie and Richard Corben. Corben will provide pencils and inks for covers and interiors of all four isses.

"When I think of horror and comics, Richard Corben is one of the first names that comes into my head," said Niles. "I still can't believe I'm working with him. I remember having my mom take a Corben book away from me as a kid. Now maybe some kid will have Bigfoot yanked away from him by his parent!"

Here's how IDW describes the mini-series:

"Bigfoot is the most realistic story of what it would be like if there were a huge, hairy creature stomping around the Pacific Northwest. Bigfoot is real -- and he's not happy with mankind. The story promises exciting twists in this story of who is hunting whom."

"No matter what anyone says I'm still convinced that Bigfoot is 100 percent real," Zombie said. "This comic is the first step in proving that a giant ape-man is still haunting the woodlands of America."

MARVEL'S ULTIMATE SECRET

Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Joe Quesada said that Warren Ellis' trilogy of Ultimate mini-series will likely run through the end of 2005.

The first mini-series, Ultimate Nightmare, runs through December, followed by Ultimate Secret, which is drawn by Steve McNiven.

"By the time you get to the end of Ultimate Nightmare, the last several pages, you'll start to understand what this trilogy is all about and what is befalling the Ultimate Universe," Quesada said during a recent convention appearance.

Quesada said Ultimate Secret will introduce new charcters to the Ultimate Universe.

BRIEFLY

  • On Thursday, retailers will receive free copies of a new printing of DC Comics' Fallen Angel featuring the first story from the Fallen Angel TP. This issue, which features the words "This issue free" on the cover, is written by Peter David, with art by David Lopez and Fernando Blanco and cover art by Brian Stelfreeze. The issue also includes a letter to readers from David.

This edition of Fallen Angel #1 is provided to retailers in quantities equal to half of their initial orders of Hellblazer #200.

"I am very pleased that DC feels that Fallen Angel is worth the time, consideration and energy for this extra promotional step," David said. "Part of it stems from the nearly unanimous critical raves the series has gotten, and part from DC's knowing that upcoming issues will answer a lot of questions. As for the much-debated background of the Fallen Angel herself, well... let's just say that the final panel of issue #18 should pretty much point the way, once and for all, in the direction of her true origins. By giving readers a second look at series' start, DC is inviting and urging readers who missed it the first time to give it a try."
