Tuesday, September 14, 2004TEEN TITANS ANIMATED UPDATE
British actor Greg Ellis is providing the voice of Malchior, a love interest for Raven in the upcoming "Spellbound" episode of Cartoon Network's Teen Titans. "You may not know this man's name or face, but he's a wonderful voiceover actor," Teen Titans voice director Andrea Romano told The Continuum. "It's a very romantic episode between Raven and this character Malchior. So it's one of my favorites because it's a girly episode. I like the romantic episodes."
Ellis, 36, plays the villain Michael Amadorhas on Fox's 24. He has several voice acting roles to this credit, Jackie Chan Adventures and the X-Men Legends video game. Here's how Cartoon Network describes the "Spellbound" episode: "There's no one else quite like Raven: dark, somber and undeniably creepy. Even with four friends around her, Raven still manages to feel alone at Titans Tower... until she discovers a charming young Wizard named Malchior trapped inside one of her ancient books." "Spellbound" is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m (ET/PT) on Cartoon Network. In other Teen Titans news: * Look for the characters Mas and Menos to appear later this season. * A story arc in Season 4 will focus on Raven, producer David Slack said.

SCIFI'S DARKLIGHT
Darklight, described as a "a kick-ass, dark-fantasy female-superhero flick" by its writer/director, debuts Saturday on SciFi at 8 p.m. "If you like Alias, Hellboy, Blade, Elektra, Gene Colan and Jack Kirby comics crossed with Buffy, I've tried to serve up the goods in a nice package of fanboy enjoyment," writer/director Bill Platt told The Continuum. Here's how the network describes the film: "Lilith, an ancient demoness whose true nature is concealed by a powerful spell, lives as a 24-year-old woman with no memory of her ageless past -- until William Shaw of The Faith recruits her to help him stop the Demonicos, a rampaging monster that is spreading a lethal plague across the Earth and whose only vulnerability is to Lilith's unique mystical power, known as Darklight." Shiri Appleby from Rosewell plays plays Lilith, an immortal demon based on mythology from the Kabbalah "In Darklight, she's the sexy, tormented anti-heroine who becomes humanity's last hope," Platt said.
The movie also stars Richard Burgi (24, Cellular, Fox's new Point Pleasant series), John De Lancie (Q on Star Trek) and David Hewlett (Stargate: Atlantis and Cube). "I'm a diehard fan of comics, sci-fi and horror -- this movie is an attempt to satisfy every genre craving I've had since being a kid," Platt said. "It's got a demon superheroine, science and sorcery co-mingling -- which even Thundarr the Barbarian could tell you is never a bright idea -- a cool winged-demon creature, and other horror/comic book-inspired nastiness."
SMALLVILLE UPDATE
The WB has released a new image of Tom Welling and Erica Durance from "Crusade," the season premiere of Smallville set to air on Wednesday, Sept. 22. The network has also released a revised logline for the episode: "Clark (Tom Welling) returns to Smallville re-programmed as Kal-El. Intent on fulfilling his destiny, Kal-El takes to the skies to steal a powerful kryptonite crystal. Determined to save her son, Martha (Annette O'Toole) turns to Dr. Swann's emissary, Bridgette Crosby (Margot Kidder, "Superman"), and learns about a surprising new form of kryptonite. Meanwhile, Lois Lane (Erica Durance) comes to town to investigate the murder of her cousin Chloe (Allison Mack). Also, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) returns from Paris with a new attitude and a new boyfriend (Jensen Ackles), Jonathan (John Schneider) lies in a coma, and Lionel (John Glover) faces a grim new life in prison." BRIEFLY
Here's how the book is described: "In Dope Fiends of the Zombie Cafe, an experimental, radioactive preservative leaks into Centerville's marijuana crop, initiating the human testing phase ahead of schedule. High school pinball champ Tommy and his best gal Betty Marie must battle beatnik zombies, poetry readings, and mad science. "I'm very excited to be working on this new mini-series," Grell said. "Not only is Sable my favorite among all the characters I've ever created, he's also the right kind of hero for today's world - less than perfect but doing his best, willing to face any danger for what's right, and absolutely relentless when he's on the hunt."
