DOUG MAHNKE REMAINS WITH DC
Doug Mahnke, artist of the current maxi-series Justice League Elite, has extended his exclusive agreement with DC Comics by two years. Mahnke, whose previous assignments for DC Comics include JLA and Superman: Man of Steel, will become the regular artist on Batman with December's issue #635, joining writer Judd Winick. He is also slated to draw the upcoming JLA/Cyberforce Special, co-published with Top Cow, and has contributed to the lead story in JLA Secret Files 2004. "I'm happy to sign my agreement with DC," Mahnke said. "The agreement in itself is a great motivator to work hard -- it's a great show of faith in me. I've had nothing but a good experiences with DC's editors and staff, including getting paid on time and a variety of other courtesies. Working on comic book icons like Superman and Batman is rewarding in itself, and the exclusive agreement just sweetens the deal.² "Doug Mahnke's on fire these days," said Mike Carlin, DC's Senior Group Editor. "His work on Justice League Elite is the best of his already impressive career, and his upcoming Batman work will clearly show why Gotham City is where Doug belongs!" "This is like going home, because Doug and I go back to the days when he and I were at Dark Horse Comics and he was drawing The Mask," said Group Editor Bob Schreck. "He's a total pro and a pleasure to work with. I've admired his big brain, unique pencilling style and storytelling skills ever since, and he just gets better with every project he's on. Between Judd's scripts and Doug's art, Batman fans are in for a real treat."
