SPIDER-MAN 2 MOVIE UPDATE

Starting Wednesday and running through Oct. 20, Alex Ross' original paintings, which appeared in the opening title sequence to Spider-Man 2, will be available in a charity auction on eBay (http://www.sonypictures.com/auction), with all proceeds going to the United Cancer Front (UCF) Women's Cancer Research Program at UCLA.

The 15 paintings will be listed exclusively on eBay with all proceeds donated to UCF, which is dedicated to working toward the eradication of cancer.

"The United Cancer Front is a unique force bringing together nationally and internationally renowned scientists, physicians, and epidemiologists in a kind of 'Manhattan Project' to fight cancer; a group of diseases that will effect one in every two men and one in every three women," said Spider-Man 2 producer Laura Ziskin.

"Sony Pictures and the filmmakers of Spider-Man 2 are delighted to be making Alex Ross' unique and beautiful artwork available to the public in the service of such a worthy cause."

SMALLVILLE UPDATE

Trent Ford has been cast as Mikhail Mxzptlk in an upcoming episode of The WB's Smallville, The Continuum has learned.

In a recent interview with The Continuum, Smallville executive producer Al Gough provided the show's spin on the character.

"He will not be the imp in the purple hat," Gough said. "But there is a character who is sort of an Eastern European exchange student who is sort of a jinx."

According to Gough, the character will appear in the season's seventh episode.

Ford, 25, has appeared in such films as How to Deal and Gosford Park. He also appeared in several episodes of The West Wing.

DARREN DAVIS TALKS 10TH MUSE MOVIE, COMIC

Hot on the heels of an announced film project, The 10th Muse returns in comic-book form with a new series in February from Angel Gate Press.

10th Muse creator Darren Davis will be joined by Alex America, Johnny Lowe and Snowcone on the book.

"I'm really happy that Angel is still going ahead and producing things on the 10th Muse," Davis told The Continuum. "They are doing a great job with the property with the young adult novels, t-shirts and other Muse related items."

The 10th Muse: Book of Lights one-shot, due in November, will feature a five-page preview of the series.

"There is going to be giant changes in the comic that will be announced in a couple of weeks too," Davis said.

Ali Russell, who is also writing the Legend of Isis movie, has launched feature production banner Elysium Entertainment with The 10th Muse and an untitled Rob Liefeld vehicle.

Elysium will be overseen by Brooklyn Weaver of Energy Entertainment.

"Working with Ali, Brooklyn, Daniel (Alter) and Debbie (Bishop) on these properties has been a great experience. We sort of formed a team of sorts," Davis said. "The 10th Muse has been the comic book that has stayed closest to my heart, since it was the first creation."

Davis said an animated version of the property is also in the works, the Myth-Adventures of the Muses, with Thomas Donna and Andrew Dalhouse.
