WILDGUARD: FIRE POWER
Todd Nauck returns with "the world's only made for TV super-team" in December in Wildguard: Fire Power from Image Comics. In Wilguard: Casting Call, readers had the opportunity to choose a member of the team from a large pool of heroes. They chose Freezerburn, who joined the four other "winners" from the book: Red Rover, Ignacia, Snapback and Lily Hammer. Wildguard: Fire Power follows the five survivors as they attempt to prove their worth as heroes, under the leadership of producer/superhero/superstar Four. As you might expect, things don't go as smoothly as planned. "One of the four pre-selected characters, Ignacia, is a hero with flame based powers," Nauck said. "The readers voted in Freezerburn who has ice and fire powers. So now we have two fire powered heroes on a five-member team. Some say this makes the team unique. Some say it makes one of the characters redundant. The scrutiny may prove too much for one character." The one-shot also features a back-up story starring the hero who finished sixth in the original reader voting. In "Where Are They Now?," Nauck and artists Sean Galloway and Tim Kane follow Little Miss Sunshine back to her Florida hometown as she investigates the disappearances of local college students. Nauck will appear on the Nov. 24 episode of "On the Cover," a pop culture game show broadcast weekdays on the PAX network. He mentioned the book during the episode. "I love pop culture and watching game shows," Nauck said "So getting to
participate on a new show all about celebrities was right up my alley. And
when the host asked about my work in comics, I took this opportunity to pimp
Wildguard."
SMALLVILLE UPDATEThe WB has released a description for "Devoted," the Wednesday, Oct. 13 episode of Smallville. Here's how the network describes the episode: "Clark (Tom Welling) joins the football team at school and is immediately given the starting quarterback position after the old quarterback starts a fight with new coach Jason (Jensen Ackles). Curious about the behavior change in his old teammate, Clark and Lois (Erica Durance) investigate and discover that the cheerleaders are poisoning the teams' water with kryptonite, turning the players into Stepford-like boyfriends." The episode was directed by David Carlson directed and written by Luke Schelhaas.
