WIZARD WORLD TEXAS: WILDSTORM/VERTIGO PANEL

The new Majestic ongoing book will become very important, WildStorm's Jim Lee hinted at DC Comics' WildStorm/Vertigo panel on Friday at Wizard World Texas.

"We have really, really big plans for the WildStorm Universe in 2006, and this book plays a pivotal role," Lee said.

Majestic -- written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning with art by Neil Googe and Trevor Scott -- features the character returning from the DC Universe into the WildStorm Universe.

WITCHBLADE: MOVIE, DVD, ANIME

Witchblade is now being developed as a feature film, with director Chuck Russell attached, Top Cow's Matt Hawkins told The Continuum.

The film is not set up at a studio yet, Hawkins. It will be a separate entity from the TNT television series.

Russell recently worked on a Way of the Rat movie, based on the CrossGen Comics book. That movie did not materialize.

Russell's directing credits include The Scorpion King, Eraser and The Mask.

Hawkins said that TNT's Witchblade, which starred Yancy Butler as Sara Pezzini for two seasons, will likely be coming to DVD in the spring.

And Witchblade is being developed for animation in Japan. The character is being developed as a television series by Gonzo Digimation, the third-largest anime company in Japan. Twenty-six episodes will be produced.

"They were really aggressive about coming to us," Hawkins said.

This version of Witchblade probably won't feature Sara Pezzini, but another wielder of the blade. Hawkins said Top Cow drafted an eight-page document of what could and could not be done with the character.
