SPIDER-MAN ANIMATED DVD

Columbia Tri-Star Home Video has released more details about Spider-Man -- The New Animated Series: Extreme Threat, which will be in stores on Jan. 24.

Episodes from the MTV series on the DVD will include "Royal Scam," "Heroes and Villains" and "Flash Memory."

The episodes will be presented in widescreen format.

The DVD has a running time of 64 minutes and suggested price of $14.94.

LOVE AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Oni Press has announced a second installment of Love as a Foreign Language by J. Torres and Eric Kim.

Slated for a February release, the 72-page graphic novel continues the story of Joel's Korean adventure. He spends his days teaching English to a variety of age groups. His nights are spent dreaming of Hana, the school's new secretary. But will his pining pay off or would he be better off on a plane back to Canada?

"In the past two or three years I've mostly worked on comics about super powered teenagers," Torres said. "I really enjoy that stuff, but I also wanted to get back to my roots. My first series Copybook Tales was a slice-of-slice comedy about growing up and finding your place in the world. I return to those themes with this, plus I explore a romantic relationship that somewhat resembles my own sometimes, er, laughable love life."

"Love as a Foreign Language provides the perfect outlet for J.'s wit and heart and J. gives Eric Kim the chance to show off his impressive cartooning skills," said editor James Lucas Jones. "The pair has a special kind of chemistry and people are already sitting up and taking notice."

Love as a Foreign Language is a quarterly graphic novel series. The second installment retails for $6.95 and features a color cover by Kim.

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED UPDATE

Vixen, Wildcat and Black Canary all will get the spotlight in upcoming episodes of Cartoon Network's Justice League Unlimited.

Promos during the end credits of upcoming shows reveal the characters in action.

Vixen is voiced by Gina Torres, Wildcat by Dennis Farina and Black Canary by Morena Baccarin.

"We had a good-sized list for Wildcat, and Dennis Farina was at the top," producer Bruce Timm told The Continuum. "And he was the first guy who said, 'Sure, I'd like to come play.'

"And he worked out great. He was awesome, actually."

  • Wesley Snipes posted on the Blade: Trinity boards about the possibility of playing Black Panther: "I've wanted to do the Black Panther for years now and if the fans want it, I would be honored to bring T'Challa to life. I read the post where Black Panther was the topic and I'd like to say it wouldn't be all that difficult for me to play another comic-book character. I've played many cops, dads, hustlers, FBI agents and guys running down the street and more time than not I've been able to create distinctive personalities. It would be a fabulous challenge to animate another black comic book. To make the impossible, possible and the unbelievable, believable is one of the greatest dreams an artist has."
