DARK HORSE COMICS FOR MARCH

Dark Horse Comics has released its solicitations for March.

For a rundown, with cover images, CLICK HERE.

THE BATMAN UPDATE

The final four episodes of the first season of Kids' WB!'s The Batman will likely air during the February sweeps.

Supervising producer Duane Capizzi, cautious about revealing too much, told The Continuum that some previous foes from the season will be returning.

"I think it's safe to say there will be both Joker and Penguin 'sequels' to their first episodes, and a stupendous two-part finale," Capizzi said.

Kevin Michael Richardson provides the voice of The Joker, and Tom Kenny provides the voice of the Penguin.

GAIL SIMONE EXTENDS DC EXCLUSIVE

Gail Simone, writer of Birds of Prey and an upcoming story arc in JLA: Classiied illustrated by José Luis García-López and Klaus Janson, has extended her exclusive agreement with DC Comics for two years.

"There are a ton of great reasons to work for DC: the characters, the management, footrubs from Greg Rucka, Dan DiDio's fabulous slumber parties, the editors, and the attention to quality and detail all spring to mind," Simone said.

"Seriously, I think DC's commitment to the readers is unequalled. They have management you can believe in, exceptional editors like Joan Hilty and Mike Carlin and Stephen Wacker and a proven commitment to excellence."

"Gail brings a truly distinctive voice to the DCU, and we're thrilled to have her on board," DiDio said. "We see Gail as a star, and we believe that the projects she'll be working on over the next two years will reflect this."

Simone has also written an episode of Cartoon Network's Justice League Unlimited.

BRIEFLY

  • The Hellboy movie will be coming to Starz! in February. Specific air dates have not been released yet.

  • Professional wrestler Triple H, who plays Grimwood in Blade: Trinity, is scheduled to appear on Fox Sports Net's The Best Damn Sports Show Period on Wednesday night.

In other Blade: Trinity news, to the right is an image from the appearance of Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel on MTV's Total Request Live last week. Click on the thumbnail for a larger image.

  • About Comics has announced that it is ending its trade paperback reprints of Mark Evanier and Will Meugniot's DNAgents and Evanier and Dan Spiegle's Crossfire, effective immediately. One volume of each series has already been released. The second volumes, announced for January and March respectively, will not be released.

"As much as I like the material and am pleased with the positive reviews it generated, the decision came down to simple dollars and cents," said Nat Gertler, publisher of About Comics. "The orders for Crossfire Volume 1 -- which I thought was a particularly nice-looking book -- and DNAgents Volume 2 made it clear that these reprints were not going to be profitable."

  • Coming Thursday: Marvel first looks -- and much more!!!
