DARK HORSE'S DAMN NATION

Andrew Cosby, the creator of UPN's Haunted and the SciFi network original series Eureka, teams with artist J. Alexander on Dark Horse Comics' Damn Nation, a vampire epic of global proportions that begins in February.

Here's how Dark Horse describes the book:

"The United Statesı borders and ports are locked down against a terrible threat. However, the barbed wire and infantries are not positioned to keep an enemy out, but to protect the rest of the world from a vampire plague thatıs spread over every inch of the country.

"Most of the living have fled the U.S., but a group of scientists remain behind, working on a cure. A military operation is launched from the Presidentıs current offices in the U.S. Embassy in London, to save the potential cure from the encroaching undead‹but the real motivations of the military remain in question."

"Damn Nation is a reinterpretation of the classic vampire tale," Cosby said. "My initial goal was simple. I wanted to make the vampire scary again. To do that, I had to strip it down to its essential elements: a bloodthirsty nocturnal predator driven by a single biological imperative to feed. Once that was accomplished, all that was left to do was find a villain. For that, I had to look to the real monster in my story: man."

The first issue in the five-issue series will arrive in stores on Feb. 16 and will cost $2.99.
