KANDORA PUBLISHING FOR APRIL

Following are Kandora Publishing's solicitations for April, with information coming from the company.

JADE FIRE #1

Written by Brian Augustyn, art by H.S. Park, colors by Transparency Digital.

Somewhere in Asia, aeons ago, stood the city. Even then it was older than any of its millions of residents could remember. Created as a bastion of peace, learning and human dignity, the huge, walled metropolis existed in blissful harmony since the beginning. But now a serpent of corruption slithers in the shadows of this paradise. Now evil has set its sights on the city and its citizens. Stirred by this spreading dark stain, the Goddess wakes. The protective spirit of the city-entwined in everything that is good about the place-she senses the infestation and takes steps to combat it. Xian was a serious and dedicated student one day, living a life of ease and serenity in her beloved city. Then the murders started and evil came to the city for the first time. When the Goddess implored her to take up the mystic green sword and become the champion against corruption, Xian could only assent. Now, she is Jade Fire, and only she can strike against the heart of darkness beating ever louder beneath the silent streets of the city. She's ready to fight to save her home, even if it means battling the devil himself. And it just might!

The peaceful, bucolic morning in the city dawns like every other, until the first body is found, brutally murdered and left as a bloody sign of the dark changes to come. Who is the dead man? What dread future does his death foretell? And can even a mystically empowered champion stand against the black power that seeks to destroy a city that has never had to fight for itself? Jade Fire will have to find the answers or she and everyone she loves is doomed.

40 pages, $3.50.

The new world is not only plagued by lethal sea creatures, they learn, but by political intrigue and imminent global war. Barbarossa and his people know there's more to the welcome they receive than meets the eye, and the murderous attacks from the shadows on their first night confirms this suspicion. What's going on-and can the crafty pirate find a way to profit?
