SIN CITY MOVIE UPDATE

Rosario Dawson, who plays Gail in the Sin City movie, went to lengths to visually represent her character in a way faithful to the comics.

Dawson wears a small, tight-fitting outfit in the film. She recently recalled meeting with the wardrobe department about her costume.

"When I walked in she was, 'Like, here it is (Dawson holds fingers apart). And I understand completely if you don't want to wear it. But try it first?'" Dawson said. "I fell in love with it. It was cool. It was my S&M super-hero outfit."

Robert Rodriguez, who directed the film with Sin City creator Frank Miller, said Dawson cut her hair specifically for the role.

"We have people who loved the book so much they wanted to look like the characters," he said.

Sin City is Dawson's third comics-based film. She previously starred in Men in Black II and Josie and the Pussycats.

In other Sin City news:

* Sin City star Bruce Willis will be a guest on NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien on Thursday, March 10.

* Dynamic Forces is offering two new lithographs and an Artist Proof's Edition of a Sin City Statue by William Paquet in April.

Said Miller about Paquet's rendition of Marv: "This was never an assignment for William. This wasn't a job somebody handed him. This statue bugged him until he had to let it out. It's gorgeous and inspired."

The lithographs are I Love The Rain and The Babe Word Red. Both measure 18 inches by 24 inches and will cost $29.99.

MEGACON: JOE QUESADA PANEL

Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Joe Quesada defended the company's recent push for variant covers on Friday during the first of his two panels at MegaCon.

"We're being very judicious," Quesada said. "I'm not a great fan of them, but I'm a business man. Fans are saying they want these and if somebody says they want these and they'll pay the money, we owe it to ourselves and the retailers. When retailers say they want these, we should meet the demand."

THE BATMAN ON DVD

Warner Home Video has set a May 24 release date for The Batman - Season 1, Vol. 1: Training for Power with a suggested price of $14.97.

Episodes on the DVD include:

* "The Bat in the Belfry": The Batman finds himself dealing with a new breed of criminal when the Joker takes over Arkham Asylum, then plans to fly a hot air balloon filled with Joker Gas -- a toxin which leaves its victims in a strange "rictus" state -- and "pop" its contents all over Gotham!

* "Traction": The Batman faces off with masked criminal Bane, and once Bane's Chemical steroid-infusion is activated, Batman finds himself outmatched in the Brute strength department.

* "Call of the Cobblepot": "Ozzy" Cobblepot, aka The Penquin, has delusions of rebuilding the last Cobblepot fortune, via high-flying robberies employing various trained birds. Unaware of Cobblepot's criminal plans, Alfred finds himself in the run-down and decrepit Cobblepot mansion, where he is ensnared by Ozzy. Now Penguin will let his hungry birds feast upon Alfred, unless The Batman can rescue him in time.
