ADAM HUGHES COVERS CATWOMAN

Adam Hughes is beginning what he said he hopes will be an extensive run as new Catwoman cover artist with Catwoman #44 in June.

"I hope it will be like my Wonder Woman run," Hughes said. "As long as they let me do it, I'll be there.

"I love working on a DC book and have been looking for a regular gig. And nobody's let me play in the Batman universe until now."

What does Hughes think of Catwoman's most recent costume, designed by Darwyn Cooke?

"I love it! I'm really excited about doing that one," Hughes said. "It looks like it just came off the rack. It looks like anybody could get it from your friendly neighborhood bondage shop. It looks very real."

Hughes said he also has done a Power Girl cover (probably for a reported JSA: Classified title) and looks to be doing more than covers soon.

"I want to be back on interiors for 2006," he said.

VIPER COMICS' THE MIDDLEMAN

Viper Comics will be publishing The Middleman, a new comic created by Javier Grillo-Marxuach, a writer and supervising producer of ABC's first-season hit series Lost.

Viper's Jessie Garza told The Continuum that the monthly four-issue mini-series, which mixes elements of Men in Black and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will begin in July.

"He was a reader of Dead @17 and liked our design work and design elements," Garza said of Grillo-Marxuach.

The art for The Middleman will be by Les McClaine, whose credits include Slave Labor's Highway 13.

"It will be black and white, with gray-scaling," Garza said.

In other Viper news, look for a Josh Howard art book to debut at Comic-Con International in San Diego in July.
