DYNAMITE'S FATHOM PRELUDE

Dynamite Entertainment announced on Wednesday that an exclusive Fathom prelude story -- produced by Dynamite in conjunction with Fathom creator Michael Turner and Aspen Studios -- will be in stores this May.

The story is by Turner and J.T. Krul with script by Krul. It features the interior art of Ale Garza.

Dynamite offering four different covers, each shipping in equal ration, by Turner, Garza, Peter Steigerwald and Jae Lee. The Fathom Prelude has a $2.99 cover price.

"The Fathom Prelude illuminates a part of Aspen's life that has been untouched so far in the title," Krul SAID. "There is a big gap in issue one between her arrival in San Diego on the cruise ship and her discovery of the Blue in the ocean. In the Prelude, Aspen's natural attraction to the water has translated into a position on the U.S. Olympic swim team. As she embarks on a journey to Korea for the '88 Games, she is sure it will be a life-changing event. And, she is right, but not in the way that she imagined. "

BRIEFLY

* American Freakshow is a monthly three-issue, full-color miniseries from IDW Publishing debuting in May. It is written by Steve Niles with art by Chee.

American Freakshow tells "The Terrible Tale of Sloth Boy" as it follows the title character through his brutal and warped existence, beginning with his days as a sideshow freak and continuing on through his attempt at normalcy in the bowels of a Florida trailer park.

"This is based on about two or three true-life freakshow stories that I've been obsessed with for years -- some small, some larger. I sort of combined them into one big, twisted, freaky-ass story, hence the title," Niles said. "And I hope people dig the pseudo-documentary style Chee and I have put together. This one is a very odd tale. I got a little freaked out writing it, to be perfectly honest."

* Stemming from its showing at independent upscale boutiques last season and demand at the recent Magic Apparel Show in Las Vegas, the Betty & Veronica apparel lines will begin to make their bow at top tier department stores nationwide beginning this spring, it was announced by Allan I. Grafman, President of Archie Comics Entertainment, LLC.

* Activision announced that APM film and television composer Gregor Narholz is set to score X-Men: Legends II.

* Sin City stars Bruce Willis and Jaime King are scheduled to appear on NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien on Thursday.

* Coming Friday: Movie news and much more!!!
