SMALLVILLE UPDATE

The WB has released a new image from "Spirit," the Wednesday, April 20 episode of Smallville.

The image features multi-platinum recording group Lifehouse, who will perform the single "You and Me" from the band's self-titled third album as a moody backdrop behind the senior prom at Smallville High.

Here's the network's official description of the episode:

"A stunned Chloe is nominated for Prom Queen and tries to talk a reluctant Clark and Lana into attending the dance with her. However, after her rival Dawn, a wannabe Prom queen, crashes her car into a ravine filled with kryptonite, Dawn's spirit is released and she enters the bodies of the others making them act out of character. As a result, Lana asks Clark to be her date, Lois attends the Prom and Chloe sets the school on fire. Lex gives the seniors a special gift by having the band Lifehouse play at the dance."

APC'S ABIDING PERDITION

UK publisher APC has announced an August launch for Abiding Perdition, a mini-series written and created by Nick Schley. Schley has worked on titles such as Judo Girl and 10th Muse; this is his first outing as a writer/creator.

Joining Schley is Spanish artist Pedro Delgado and Chicago based colorist Bob Pedroza. The first full issue of Abiding Perdition will be available to purchase from the San Diego Comicon in July from APCıs booth - with the first issue scheduled for an August release internationally via DCD.

Abiding Perdition #1 will ship with three variant covers, two from Pedro Delgado and one from an artist to be named shortly.

"Abiding Perdition will appeal to many comic fans, not only is the art gorgeous and very slick, but Schley has created a fantastical world that will capture the imaginations of many," said Richard Emm, APC's editor-in-chief. "Fans of artist such as Joe MAD (Madureira) and Humberto Ramos should really dig Pedroıs style and with Bobıs great colors this is a book that will bring the team great acclaim."

"When I first started writing Perdition I wanted the morality of the old Grimm Fairy Tales to stay intact," Schley said. "The bedrock of this miniseries, as well as future series planned, is actually based more around Norse Mythos with only a splash of fairytale characters we all know and love, or hate as it were. But there will definitely be some 'recognizable' instances from familiar tales.

"My father read me Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit for as far back as I can possibly remember and instantly I loved anything Tolkien --- and have ever since. So I've always had these little mini stories clicking away in my head. My passion of Norse mythology, the inherent darkness of all fairy tales accompanied with the visual taste of animated classics such as Secret of NIMH or Black Cauldron are the granite foundation of Abiding Perdition."
