DEVIL'S DUE FOR JULY

Devil's Due Publishing has released its solicitations for July.

For a rundown, with cover images, CLICK HERE.

ALEX ROSS COVERS GREEN LANTERN

DC Comics has provided The Continuum with a first look at Alex Ross' variant cover to Green Lantern #1.

"I'm not sure whether I was asked to do this cover or I volunteered, because I' m so devoted to Hal Jordan, but I'm thrilled to be a part of this project," Ross said. "Green Lantern has what I look for in comics: a respect for the past and an embracing of an archetypal character."

Ross' cover serves as a companion piece to the cover by series artists Carlos Pacheco and Jesus Merino. Retailers will receive the two covers in a 50 percent split.

Green Lantern #1 will arrive in stores on May 25.

MANUEL GARCIA EXCLUSIVE TO MARVEL

Marvel Comics has announced that artist Manuel Garcia has accepted an exclusive contract with the publisher.

Garcia's credits include the Daredevil film adaptation, Thunderbolts, Mystique and the current Spider-Man: Breakout mini-series.

"It's like a dream come true," Garcia said. "I'm doing what I have been dreaming to do all my life...and as a creator it's very important to know that these guys at Marvel trust your work. On the other hand this comes in a very special moment in my personal life, so Iım really pleased with this chance!"

Garcia, a native of Spain, was once very close to missing out on a career in comics. "I was in an art school when I was younger and then wasted six or seven years on university -- thinking that architecture was my future, obviously I was wrong -- before I saw that my life was in the comic field."

His first professional work was a Conan pin-up for a Spanish edition of the barbarianıs adventures. "Then Robin #92 for the American market," he said. "But my first highlight was my issue of the Avengers."

Asked about future projects, Garcia teased: "Well, there will be FANTASTIC things just around the corner, but I would get killed if I said them so...stay tuned!"

LIONS, TIGERS AND BEARS SELLS OUT

Within a few hours of stores opening on Wednesday, Diamond Comic Distributors reported that Image Comics' Lions, Tigers and Bears #3 had sold out at the distributor level.

This follows sell-outs of the first two issues.

"Jack and I are simply in awe of how well this book has been received by not only comic readers, but everyone else we've managed to expose to the story," said series creator/writer Mike Bullock. "From school teachers to businessmen to entertainment moguls, Lions, Tigers and Bears has received praise from nearly every walk of life. We really love Joey and the Night Pride and we're just overjoyed that readers seem to feel the same way about our little band of adventurers."

With the conclusion to the first mini-series coming next month, Bullock is bracing for the response from readers.

"I've already received some emails regarding the neck breaking cliff hanger I wrote for the third issue," Bullock said. "I never really expected readers to get this attached to our characters, but judging from the comments directed my way from those who've read the third issue, I can honestly say, people have truly taken Joey and the Night Pride into their hearts."
