FIRST LOOKS

FIRST LOOK: EISNER/MILLER TPB

Eisner/Miller TPB will arrive in stores on Wednesday from Dark Horse Comics. The book is by Will Eisner and Frank Miller.

Here's how Dark Horse describes the book:

" Finally available is this fascinating discourse between two of this medium's greatest contributors-living comics legend Will Eisner and Sin City creator and co-director Frank Miller. It would be hard to imagine any creators who have affected their chosen medium more than Eisner and Miller have influenced the world of comic books and graphic novels. Now, life-long comics fans and culture-curious readers are invited to listen in as a legendary innovator and godfather of sequential art (Eisner) and the modern master of cinematic comics storytelling (Miller) discuss one on one, in an intimate interview format, the ins-and-outs of this absorbing and often controversial art form."

Eisner/Miller TPB will be 350 pages and will cost $19.95.

FIRST LOOK: WAR OF THE WORLDS

War of the Worlds Illustrated will arrive in stores in May from Best Sellers Illustrated. The issue is written by Steven Stern, with art by Arne Starr and a cover by Frank Brunner.

"It's obviously both a great honor and a great responsibility to be chosen to adapt one of the most significant books ever written," said Stern. "The War of the Worlds isn't just a great science-fiction novel; it's great literature. As always in modernizing a classic, the task is to remain faithful to the spirit of the source material while re-imagining it in a contemporary context. In this instance, I'm also shifting the locale from London and its environs to the New York metropolitan area. In light of recent history, this attack by the Martians takes on a chilling relevancy and poignancy."

War of the Worlds Illustrated will cost $13.99.
