Michael Chiklis, who plays Ben Grimm/The Thing in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, said he enlisted the aid of a pyschiatrist to help get through the trauma of wearing the Thing suit.

"They wanted that human element to him, that he was trapped," Chiklis said during an appearance on Independent Film Channel's Dinner for Five over the weekend. "So, I was the right guy. I was in that 60 pounds of shit and I wanted out bad.

"I have to say it was the triumph of my life when I heard them say, 'Michael, you're wrapped.' It's the only time in my life that I've started a gig and from day one, when they put that suit on me the first time, I turned to my wife and I went, 'I can't do it. I'm not going to be able to this.'

"And I was terrified. Because, here they pushed for three months for me. They went out of their way for me. Great role. Great project. And I'm like, 'Because of a suit, I'm not going to be able to do this?'

"I had a day or two of real intense panic. I had to call a shrink. I had to call a psychiatrist and talk to her."

Chiklis said the psychiatrist was helpful in putting him in the moment.

"She was like, it's an extraordinary set of circumstances and the things that you're going to have pull out your inner mind and into the moment were connecting at people eye to eye and talking to people, and it was true," he said. "As soon as I got out of the makeup trailer and start to talking to the director or talking to one of the actors, I wasn't in my head anymore and I was in the moment. As soon as I was alone again, for a moment, it would start to rise on me."

* NBM Publishing's Cryptozoo Crew is moving to a bi-annual graphic novel format beginning in July. Cryptozoo Crew Volume One collects issues #1 and #2, along with four additional stories.

"This is a great time for new readers to jump on board," said artist Jerry Carr, "Plus, the new format gives us more flexibility to tell stories of varying lengths. That does not mean we don't still want to do comic books. There will be occasional special issues done as a comic book! For example, we're planning a standalone origin issue this fall with a Frank Cho cover. This book will always be available as a powerful introduction to the characters in the ongoing series of graphic novels."
