BATMAN BEGINS UPDATE

Warner Sunset Records will released the soundtrack for Batman Begins -- a collaboration between composers Hans Zimmer and Jason Newton Howard -- on June 14.

The soundtrack contains 12 tracks composed by Zimmer and Howard and is 60 minutes in length.

"Watching this unique collaboration between two great talents has been constantly fascinating and exciting. Their contribution to Batman Begins has been immeasurable," said director Christopher Nolan.

In a joint statment, Zimmer and Howard said: "Collaborating on this project has been a lot of fun. Since Batman Begins is a character-driven story, we wanted to give Batman credibility through the music. We've created a score that tried to stay true to the duality of the character, capturing the motion, energy, darkness and rage of Batman."

Zimmer's credits include The Lion King, Gladiator, Rainman, Driving Miss Daisy, The Last Samurai, Black Hawk Down, Thelma and Louise and Madagascar.

Howard's credits include The Village, The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Fugitive, The Prince of Tides and The Interpreter.

In other Batman Begins news:

* Sci Fi Channel will broadcast a Batman Begins special on Tuesday, June 14 at 9 p.m. (ET).

ARCANA'S EL ARSENAL

El Arsenal: Unknown Enemy #1, a three-issue mini-series by Salvador Vazquez and Daniel Perez, will launch in July from Arcana Studio.

Here's how the book is described:

"El Arsenal: Unknown Enemy follows the story of Simon Templas Masiosare, the best mercenary in the business, who is on a mission to steal a powerful biological weapon. He thinks it will be an easy task, but quickly realizes that his timing couldnąt be worse. By the time he arrives to Palomuerto -- the ghost-town that serves as meeting ground for all mercenaries -- he discovers that a bounty has just been put on his head. This is just the beginning of a story full of twists and turns, populated by strong characters such as the lovely (and deadly) Zazil, the fat Elvis-impersonating mercenary Godzukee and death himself."

"When I was a kid I used to write my own science fiction stories. I grow up reading hard sci-fi literature and looking at great films like 2001, A Clockwork Orange, obviously Star Wars, so when I came back to creating comic books I was a little overwhelmed about writing sci-fi," Vazquez said. "But then I came upon Alex de la Iglesia's Accion Mutante. This film showed a pretty weird future, lots of black jokes and action. I think that's when I started thinking about writing sci-fi again."

VILLAINS UNITED THIRD PRINTING

Villains United #1 Second Printing has sold out at DC Comics nine days before its in-store date of May 18.

DC Comics is sending the issue back to press for a new, third printing, scheduled to arrive in stores on June 8.

The cover of this printing features an inked and colored version of the second printing's cover, with art by Dale Eaglesham and Wade von Grawbadger.

"Any opportunity for more people to see the amazing artistry of Dale Eaglesham, Wade von Grawbadger and Sno-Cone is good news," said writer Gail Simone. "Plus, I think this proves once and for all that comics readers are evil and twisted inside and want to see the downfall of society. Frankly, I'm both appalled and delighted, and I'm telling all their mothers."
