WIZARD WORLD PHILADELPHIA: MARVEL'S CUP O' JOE PANEL

PHILADELPHIA -- "It's become the Cup O' Marvel panel," Joe Quesada laughed at the beginning of Marvel Comics' Cup O' Joe panel at Wizard World Philadelphia.

Flanked by several editors and publisher Dan Buckley, Quesada played host to a slide show of upcoming projects and presided over a brisk question-and-answer session with the audience.

Following are highlights.

* Richard K. Morgan returns in September with another Black Widow series, this one drawn by Sean Phillips.

* She-Hulk returns in October, by Dan Slott and Juan Bobillo. The cover to the first issue is by Greg Horn.

* Andrea DiVito is drawing Young Avengers #7-8 and Steve McNiven #9-10. McNiven will be working on a "major project," Quesada said.

* Power Pack is returning for a second mini-series.

* Chris Eliopolous' Franklin Richards: Son of a Genius back-up from Power Pack will be collected in a one-shot that will also include a new story.

* Fantastic Four: First Family, by Joe Casey and Chris Weston, will take place during the time frame of the first three issues of Fantastic Four, editor Andy Schmidt said.

* Runaways #9-12 will feature the return of Cloak and Dagger. Quesada said the book is enjoying healthy sales and isn't going anywhere.

* The Books of Doom will be a six-issue mini-series by Ed Brubaker and Pablo Raimondi that starts in October.

* The Thing ongoing series, by Dan Slott and Andrea DiVito, will launch in November. "It's going to be big fun action," Slott said. "If you liked Spider-Man/Human Torch, it will be a lot like that."

* Drax is a four-issue mini-series by Keith Giffen and Mitch Breitenweiser. "We're not throwing the old continuity with Drax out," Schmidt said, "but we're making some changes."

* Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is the title of the new Spidey book from Peter David and Mike Wieringo. It begins in October.

* Jessica Jones' baby is featured in The Pulse #11, at which time readers will find out if it's a boy or a girl.

* Italian artist Sergio Toppi is providing covers to 1602: The New World, the sequel by Greg Pak and Greg Tocchini. The mini-series will pick up where 1602 left off, said editor Nick Lowe, and will introduce the 1602 version of Iron Man, as designed by Tocchini.

* Look for the origin of The Winter Soldier in Captain America #11.

* Marvel will likely announce its next project from Neil Gaiman at Wizard World Chicago. Quesada said it will tie into House of M and will likely feature more than one character. "It's a big story," he said.

* Moon Knight will return early next year. "It tips its had to the old fans and moves on," Quesada said. "And it makes Moon Knight a major player in the Marvel Universe."

* Quesada said Superman Returns director Bryan Singer still wants to deliver Ultimate X-Men stories, and they're being targeted for this winter.

* Quesada on the exclusive contracts Adam and Andy Kubert signed with DC: "We're happy for them. We spoke to both of them about it and it was just time they did something different."

Andy will complete his run on Ultimate Iron Man with #5, and Adam is doing art on an issue of Incredible Hulk and the second issue of the unscheduled Daredevil: Target.

* Marvel displayed several slides of Clayton Crain's upcoming Ghost Rider mini-series with Garth Ennis. "It's one of the greatest Ghost Rider series in a long time," Quesada said.

* Marvel's Dan Buckley said he hopes the publisher will turn out more hardcovers more quickly after their initial print runs.

* Essad Ribic continues to work on a painted Silver Surfer limited series.

* There will be another Sentinel mini-series by the end of the year.

* Quesada said he doesn't know who the villains will be for the third Spider-Man movie. "When we know, we'll gear up our publishing around that," he said.
