BATMAN BEGINS UPDATE

Batman Begins is joining the "got milk?" campaign

The ad will debut in the May 20 issue of Rolling Stone.

The ad copy reads: "For the hero in all of us. Milk's 9 essential nutrients give me the strength and energy I need to fight the forces of evil. Not drinking milk? Now that would be a crime."

In other Batman Begins news:

* Christian Bale was a guest on ABC's Good Morning America on Tuesday. He was interviewed and gave Batman Begins hats for a charity cause. Click on the thumbnails below for larger images.

* Ricky Craven will be driving a Batman Begins truck for the Craftsman Truck Series race at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich., on June 18.

"I am really looking forward to racing the Batman Begins truck at Michigan and hopefully having him there will give us a little extra help," Craven said. "My son is pretty excited about it too and plans to be there to meet one of his favorite super heroes. I'm hoping he can share some of his secrets about how he gets extra speed out of the Batmobile that I can use on my truck. I'm also counting on him to keep some of my competitors at a distance on the track."

Batman will be on hand to promote his upcoming movie Batman Begins which will premiere next week. Craven's truck will sport a special Batman Begins paint scheme and he will wear a Batman firesuit on race day. Licensed shirts and hats will also be available at select Team Caliber souvenir trailers at MIS that weekend.

"Promotions like this are a lot of fun for the entire team," Craven said. "It's something different for all of us. We all grew up watching Batman and reading the comic books so I'm sure there will be a few crew members wanting to have their picture taken with him."

The Batman Begins 400 NASCAR race will be at the Speedway on June 19.

ONI PRESS' LOLA

The supernatural takes center stage at Oni Press this August with the release of Lola, a 72-page original graphic novel by J. Torres and R'John Bernales.

Here's how the book is described:

"Jesse's family has always told stories about his grandmother and her visions of haunted farmhouses, man-eating ogres, and pigs possessed by the devil. For years his grandmother has used those visions to help the people living in her community in the Philippine countryside, but to Jesse the stories are just scary. When his family travels to her home for her funeral, Jesse has no choice but to face the monsters, demons, and ghosts from his grandmother's stories, because he can see them too."

"Lolo combines family stories about my maternal grandmother and various Filipino folk tales with a little magic realism and good old fashioned campfire storytelling," Torres said. "I love seeing parts of my childhood illustrated in a comic. It's a lot of fun seeing this mix of fact and fiction blurred on the comic page like this."

The book will feature sepia-and-white art and will cost $5.95.
