SECRETS OF THE HOUSE OF M

Marvel Comics has released the cover to Secrets of the House of M, a 48-page one-shot due in stores on July 20.

Here's how Marvel describes the book:

"The history of the House of M is revealed in Secrets of the House of M, a handbook-style companion to the crossover event of the summer. Read about the moment when history changed forever and the House of M assumed control of the world. Get the back-stories on characters that you once thought you knew, but now are changed. Learn how Wolverine became the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. and how Spider-Man became a heavyweight wrestling champ who married Gwen Stacy. Secrets of the House of M includes character bios of all the major players in the House of M as well as newspaper and magazine articles, personal journal entries, and a tour of the House of M reality."

The book, written by Mike Raicht, will cost $3.99.

AMAZING SCREW-ON HEAD UPDATE

Sci Fi Channel has released a logline for the pilot episode of the animated Amazing Screw-On Head, based on Mike Mignola's creation.

Here's how the episode -- due in 2006 -- is described:

"A secret agent working for the U.S. government, Screw-On Head is a robot that screws his head onto a wide variety of bodies, and battles those who threaten our civilization. In the pilot, Screw-On Head faces off against his arch nemesis (and former manservant), Emperor Zombie."

Paul Giamatti provides the voice of Screw-On Head. The cast also includes David Hyde Pierce as Emperor Zombie; Molly Shannon as Screw's love interest, Patience the Vampire; Patton Oswalt as Mr. Groin, Screw's faithful manservant; and Mindy Sterling, who plays the dual roles of zombie henchwoman Aggie and Geraldine.

Produced by Kickstart Productions, the pilot was written by Bryan Fuller. Fuller and Jason Netter serve as executive producers, with Mike Mignola as art director. Chris Prynoski directs.

* Superman Returns director Bryan Singer will be attending Comic-Con International in San Diego, The Continuum has learned.

* Image Comics' Heaven's Devils has won the Bram Stoker Award for Illustrated Narrative from the Horror Writers Association. "Winning the Stoker was completely unexpected," said creator/writer Jai Nitz. "I can't believe I won. Still, I wouldn't have won without the efforts of Zach Howard, Sean Murphy, Kevin Sharpe, and Thompson Knox. Without them, there would be no Heaven's Devils."
