WIZARD WORLD CHICAGO: BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS PANEL

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- At his panel at Wizard World Chicago, Brian Michael Bendis announced he will be reteaming with his Daredevil collaborator Alex Maleev on an ongoing Spider-Woman book next year.

The book will follow a mini-series, Spider-Woman: Origin, that Bendis is writing with Brian Reed, whom he worked with on Activision's Ultimate Spider-Man videogame. The art will be by the Luna Bros.

"Much like Daredevil is the pulp hero of the Marvel Univese, Spider-Woman will be the spy book," Bendis said. "You'll see Nick Fury, the Black Widow, Jessica Drew and the whole cast of S.H.I.E.L.D."

The five-issue Origin mini-series marks the Marvel debut of the Luna Bros. Bendis said they came up when he was looking for suggestions online for an artist.

"We wanted someone you haven't seen before, someone unique," he said.

In othe news from the panel:

* Spider-Woman will also be featured in New Avengers #14, the first of two issues drawn by Frank Cho. New Avengers #15 features the team's public debut and Bendis said "things don't go as well as you would hope."

* Silver Sable will appear in Ultimate Spider-Man, followed by Deadpool and the Reavers. Bendis said things are being set up for the 100th issue, which involves a pissed-off Nick Fury. "The cliffhanger to No. 99 is a whopperoni," he said.

* Bendis said no one has guessed the idenity of Ronin. He also noted that Carol Danvers and Blade will be showing up in the book.

* Steve McNiven is following Cho as artist of New Avengers. Bendis said that there will be a new villain on scale of Galactus or Korvac. "We think we came up with something pretty special," he said.

* A new artist will join the book with #22, although Bendis said he could not reveal who it is.

* Bendis said he has been involved with Alter Ego, Marvel Studios' attempt to bring his Alias title to television.
