WIZARD WORLD CHICAGO: MARVEL COMICS' HOUSE OF M PANEL

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Aspen Comics' Michael Turner will be working on covers and a project for Marvel Comics, the publisher announced during its House of M panel at Wizard World Chicago on Saturday.

Specific details about Turner's projects were not revealed. When Turner was presented on stage for the announcment, he just whispered in the ear of editor-in-chief Joe Quesada about what he was working on.

Marvel's slide show included Turner images of Elektra, the Hulk, Silver Surfer and Mystique.

In other news from the panel:

* X-Men: Deadly Genesis, by Ed Brubaker and Trevor Hairsine, "truly will have an incredible effect on X-Men," Quesada said. The story is told partially in flashbacks and marks the 30th anniversary of Giant-Size X-Men #1.

"It's the first time I'm working on the X-Men, and it's cool to work on a time period when I was a huge X-Men fan," Brubaker said.

* New Excalibur #1 features Captain Britain, Dazzler, Nocturne, Juggernaut and Pete Wisdomm. Editor Mike Marts said the team will have "a specific mission" to complete.

* Craig Kyle promised a roster shakeup in New X-Men, as he and Chris Yost take over with #20. "These poor kids are trying to get handle on their lives as teenagers and fight these battles that they're not ready yet."

Kyle said that X-23 will be part of the ensemble, but the book will not become "X-23 and the New X-Men."

* Generation M is a limited series by Paul Jenkins and Ramon Bachs, with covers by Stuart Immonen. Quesada described the book as "a tour through the mutant world."

"It's sort of a re-examination of the Marvel mutant characters," Jenkins said. "It's ideal for me because I get to take the characters one-on-one."

* Decimation: House of M -- The Day After is by Chris Claremont and Randy Green. "It sets the stage for everything in the Marvel Universe and mutant universe after House of M," Quesada said.

* Writer Brian Michael Bendis said that New Avengers #16-21 will deal with a new villain spinning ouf ot House of M as well as "a look of character work."

* Exiles writer Tony Bedard said that Proteus will become a new major villain for the team. "He has the perfect power to deal with reality-hopping mutants," Bedard said.

* Wolverine #36, by Daniel Way, Javier Saltares and Mark Texeira, is "Return to Origin."

* Quesada said that Astonishing X-Men is lagging behind the events of House of M, but that writer Joss Whedon will touch upon House of M in his second arc.

* Members of X-Force will include Madrox, Wolfsbane, Strong Guy, Siren, Monet and Richtor.

* Marts said November's Uncanny X-Men #466 begins a three-issue story arc called, "End of Grey's."

* David Gabriel said there will be 10 different House of M trade paperbacks, beginning in January and continuing in February.

* Marts said House of M #7 should help clear a bit of the Xorn/Magneto confusion.

* Marts said John Layman and Aaron Lopresti are working on a project, but didnšt name it.

* Bendis said the fate of the Scarlet Witch is the biggest reveal of House of M. "You'll see her again in the next couple of weeks," he said.

* Bendis said a Luke Cage villain will appear in The Pulse #11, and that Cage will get a new costume, designed by Janet Van Dyne.
